heh., guvner

im probably taking my 9000 pro back. im having some goofy issues with a few things. like in GTKradiant my cam window dissappears sometimes, aside from my crappy 4777 3Dmark2001. thats ridiculous it should be around 9000. i have no clue what the problem is. like monox said all the prices are coming down so im shooting for a radeon 9500 pro 128mb. big step up and i should be able to get one for around $130. <edit 130 hah its gonna be more like $160>

Heh turgon,

I guess that your PC knowledge is far to superiour to mine. But don't you find all this business with continually having to upgrade, tweak etc etc, a right royal pain in the chuff?

One admits to being one of those dangerous type of PC owners, in that I know just enough to really screw my machine up before I need to get help it.

With regards to whether this card I hope to get will work or not, I expect with my usual luck, it'll probably bugger everything up which way from Sunday. Probably so much so, it'll make a ZX Spectrum look good.

Am I rambling...yes...I guess what I was trying to say, is that I feel your pain with trying to get things working on a PC.

Perhaps serious PC owners should me more thought of as hobbiest's, similar to people who build model aeroplanes and the like. (Mind you, you can't surf for scrott with a model aeroplane*)

Cheers,

Guv :)

* not that I'd know of course, ahem ahem cough cough...

yeah everyone knows its one big viscious cycle. im having to upgrade just cause i used to run a geforce2 and that cant hang with all the games today. with the amount of skilled players out there growing you cant be left behind with an old video card. 9000 pro is ok but i want faster, next best thing in my price range is the 9500 although the ti4200 is alright too.

just gotta make a descision., i have my 9000 in my rig now so tonight im prolly gonna take it out and put back in the ge2 and return the 9000 and wait for the prices to drop.  :s9:

turgon, the 1Ghz Athon and PC100 are killing your performance. You might want to hold off on the video card purchase untill you can save up for a complete new system.

I got one of them when I set about upgrading my dirty little 450mhz slapper.

I'm running an AMD 1800+ and it works fine. No graphics problems, no nothing.

Time for a new processor?

I have an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro and I average about 25 - 30 FPS in all my games.  It isn't very impressive but for $130.00 what could I expect?  I have read reports that say the 9000 is just a slimed down 8500 for people with a tight budget.  At first I thought It was just a good deal, but after seeing the performance test against the others, I see why its so cheap.  I've tried alot of different things to get the most out of this card.  Anyone know any suggestions?  I may just have to take it back and wait for the other's prices to drop.

thats your best bet man., next step up is a 9500pro and its hardcore. you can even get it to 9700 performance level if ya wanted to. for $170 you cant beat it. 9500 out performs pretty much every nvidia card on the market.
