You know the question. You know the enemy. The question is, which is it? Golem is the more common term, by far, but I've heard both... and the sprite suggests clay and stone just as well as aged bandage and bone. x.X And no, the blood does _not_ decide. Since mummies would be bloodless, and so would golems (although it could be argued that the blood is part of the animation ritual), so it's just Raven being a tad overzealous with gore.

Maybe it's both :p, if it was a plain mummy it would be a lot skinnier ala Hexen2's mummy. Also since there is blood it could have once been a living person-not necessarily a mummy, as far as I know Heretic isn't set in Egypt :;):-Maybe they augmented the strength of the monster by adding common materials like rock to create a Golem/Mummy/Zombie Hybrid. :s6:

Then again, it could be one of my sisters in the morning, who's to tell?

Ah, but it all pales when compared to the controversy surrounding Hexen's Heresiarch.  In the Nintendo64 version of Hexen, the Heresiarch is described as being female! *shudders*

I'm curious, what method did you guys use to create the sprites?  Id constructed physical models for Doom, while Lucas Arts used 3D Studio for Dark Forces.  Apogee's Rise of the Triad used photographs (of Apogee employees).
Judging by the colorful nature of the H/H enemies I'd wager them to be mostly hand-drawn.

Interesting.  It's really too bad about those clay models. :/
I have a lot of respect for the guys, hand editing 3D sprites is not exactly easy (I know, I've spent more time than is healthy playing around with the Doom engine).

I remember reading somewhere that all the mutilated corpses in Doom are actually butchered GI Joe figures.  It's probably no more than a rumor, but if you take a detailed look at those sprites it makes sense in a disturbing kind of way. o_O

BTW, I've never heard of Collector.  How far did you guys get before the project was cancelled?  Were there any public promotions or screenshots or anything?
