I booted up the game.  I joined a server.  After a short period of time there was a map change.  I did not have the map.  I joined a new server and was immediately kicked:

"Server Disconnected:  You have been kicked via Punkbuster for too many session restarts."

I am certain that I joined two servers once each.. period.  If this is a Punkbuster system to prevent bad-eggs from rejoining a server quickly, then, once again, the good gamer is getting punished.

I am one more bad experience from dumping the game.  I am certain that a few people will not miss my rants around here; but the bottom line is that this is abuse.

I could say more... but I am really too mad right now.

This old gamer's favorite game... ruined.

And this will kill SOF2 gold.

I do know that people kicked from a server have to wait a certain period of time before they can rejoin or they get booted with some PB message- I see this often after booting people off our server.  some try to reconnect immediately, and get kicked with the message (I don't think it's the same one you had problems with though).

look on the bright side, you can email Evenbalance with your problem and eventually be told you need to buy a new copy of SoF2 to cure the problem!   :s6:

Well Ord,

It didn't take long.  It's just part of my imagination, of course.  It is mighty comforting to know that such a powerful piece of software like Punkbuster is kicking cheaters, like me, off of the servers...

I was kicked because:

R_loadmdmxm:
models/weapons/ak74/ak74.glm has more ahn 1000 verts on a surface  (205378342).

Maybe I can go discuss this in the Evenbalance forum.  The above looks like a huge cheat.  I think I need to beg their forgiveness to avoid getting banned for life.

Oh, that's right, they don't have a forum.

uhhh, did it say "You were kicked by Punkbuster for"??

Because that sounds like an SoF2 error, not a PB kick.

Thanks for asking... not sure!!!!!!!  Wouldn't SOF2 just crash?  It came up in the same type of block.

I'll watch next time.... thanks.

XMC,

You know, you are probably right on the last message.  I got hit again by Punkbuster and each time it said that Punkbuster was doing it.

I am going to clean out a bunch of PK files.  If I do a poor job, I might just delete the game and start over.

I certainly do not want to blame Evenbalance for something that is not their fault.  In fact, all that is needed is someone to post something incorrect about them and they will be all over it.

Well I get silly errors like this when I accidently press a key as the map is loading or press the tilda key etc.

....Like Evenbalance, I'm working on a percentage.  As long as I hit more good keys than bad,  I have a marketable enterprise.

Other thoughts:

(running off to tinkle) I used to set my beer mug on the keyboard while loading maps and that never happened. Only the Microsoft "locked key" thingie would come up.

Maybe there should be a statement in the readme not to touch the keyboard or mouse during map loads (lest you get kicked from the game).... With Punkbuster running, the game is now like a Sandra benchmark or a Space Shuttle tile.

One good thing about this thread:  it is encouraging newer members to post.
