Ok, let me start from the beginning... About a week or two ago I had a GeForce2 MX 400 (teh suxx0r). It's not the greatest card (not even close), but it worked fine - my fps was stable, the graphics were ok - but then one day (in mid-game) my fps started jumping around like a little school girl on crack (for no reason, I didn't mess with anything - and I didn't give it crack... erm, ok...). It would go from 1 to 125, then down to 18, then back up - back and forth. After doing that for a minute or so, it would go back to normal for about 2 minutes, and then start again. I couldn't take it, I could barely move. My fps would just go crazy, then go back to normal, then go crazy again. I tried lowering my settings, that didn't work - I tried maxing my settings, that didn't work. I even reinstalled Windows, that didn't work. Finally I gave in, I went out and bought a new card, a GeForce4 MX440 (still not a great card, but better than my old one - I could've got a Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB for the same price, would that have been better?). After installing my new card, I started up SoF. Everything was fine for the first 2 minutes, then... YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT HAPPENED!!! ...My fps started jumping up and down again.
So now I'm back to where I started... I tried everything (messing with my settings, reinstalling my os, even buying a new video card - nothing worked!). The thing that pisses me off the most is that this just started for no reason. I've been playing SoF for almost a year with a GeForce2 and I never had a single problem with my fps until a week ago. Now I can't fix it...
Here's my DxDiag stuff, if that can help anyone help me!

Go here and download the detonator destroyer. Then use it to remove all drivers off your machine. then clean install the newest Nvidia drivers. |
