If you are new, some quirks of the game may make you think cheating is going on. I play with anywhere from 100-150 ping, and I still sometimes get nicked by bullets when I have already turned the corner and should have been out of sight; Sometimes when you think you've gotten four hits with the shotty, you've really gotten four near-misses instead. And sometimes when I think I've got the drop on someone and pulled the trigger first, I am the first to die because they pulled at the same time but had a better ping. I can accept these, because the net has it's limitations.
I've never cheated, nor contemplated cheating (I for one do NOT know where to DL them - why do you?), but I consider it a compliment when accused of having an "armor cheat"; it just tells me that my cover and evasive skills are getting good. On the other hand, it bums me out to think that the community is so paranoid that having skill at this game makes people question your character.
Not to say that you haven't run into more cheaters than me, but your online style can be adjusted to make it possible to avoid them. Play on a few select servers you know, servers that keep admins around and have active ban lists. I have been playing SOF2 since the demo, and rarely have I encountered a cheater (maybe once). I've kicked ass, and had my own handed to me, but I've always managed to have fun.
I hope you stick with it - the first time someone accuses you of cheating when it is pure skill will perhaps change your point of view a little bit. |

Cheats are annoying and destroys gameplay, no doubt. But the worst part is the suspicion of cheating that came along with the cheats. I have played the game for roughly 1.5 months and I have managed to reach maybe 100 Hours online hours with SOF2. But quite frankly I have not seen any solid proof of cheating yet. I play on diffrent servers all the time, punkbuster enabled of course, and I have to say that I dont see these things that you speak of. Of course, strange things happens, someone shoots me in the head with a pistol from very long range....strange I think...but 10 minutes later ..I do the same thing. Strange things happens. | Quote | | I have a very high speed connection and rarely play in rooms where my ping is higer than 30-50...the obvious misses I speak of ..that MANY of us have daily are when you SNEAK up behind someone and unload on them and they turn slowly and kill you with one shot. |
I am far from an expert, but is such a cheat even possible ? I mean, Is it not the server that keeps track of how much health you have left and how many bullets that hits you and so on......hhm...maybe not, I don't know.
I understand your frustration, as I have seen clear and obvious cheats in other games, but not really in SOF2 so far. |
