i think raven could improve ctf by making it so u cant cap the flag unless your own flag is at the flag cap point eg a bit like in quake 3

i like the standard ctf rules better too (as in sof1 for example). the reason why they are that way in sof2 is to avoid long boring stalemates in RMG maps.

it could be an option cvar type thing which could be set on for normal maps and off for RMG

I would like a third variant:

A cap scores 2 for a team, if your own flag is in the base and just one if it is not in the base.
This would give a nice twist in strategy: Do I cap now (for just 1 point), wich in case returns the flag giving the enemy the opportunity to score double....or do I wait (wich may cause flag loss, too)
Don't know if it works in reality, but it could be nice....

classic ctf for mandown is like the q3 style, in the next version of mandown it might replace normal sof2 ctf entriely.

but i think the flag not returning when touched actualy suits this game, and on some maps withoguth that it would be much harder to cap.

Well the GoldRush mod has incorperated Classic ctf. However, in a RMG, it can be a long wait to get your flag back. I see why Raven didn't do this for sof2.

That is when fire nades come in real handy.  It can get frustrating though if you are going after the flag and the other team throws fire nade after fire nade on the flag.  Maybe raven should add an asbestos suit to the loadout menu to compliment the armor and goggles :p
