A vocal communication system would add user-friendliness for the whole SOF2's community! (with a mute system off course)

Plz Raven plan this!   :s9:

GREAT if it happens.  Not likely to happen, it seems.

user friendlyness isnt a big issue ., if thats the only reason then raven have lots more to worry about.

there are several voice comm programs that work fine with sof2. #### even yahoo messenger works with sof2 if you run it in the background.

True, but what your talking about works with clans or preset teams. A built in voice communication system will enable you to talk to those on your team in a public server. When you join the game, you would automaticly (if you have the option enabled) join the voice portion also.
However there are several problems with this.
1. Spam. You think the spam coming across the screen is bad, just wait until your creaping up on the case, listening for footsteps, and instead hear two kiddies (maturity level, not age) start yelling at each other about the previous TK or what not.
2. Must only allow the living to talk to the living. Just like its done now with the typing, the dead cant talk except to the dead.
3. We've been pretty much been told no already. Not much we can do about that.

Just my 2 cents.

It would be useful with clan wars but in publics it's totally useless... then you'd get people talking about all kinds of things that I don't want to hear. Voice is only useful for brief but quick instructions, otherwise I want silence so I can concentrate on the gameplay. Text bind spamming can get annoying, but someone singing along with Britney Spears in the game will drive me nuts.

A good mute system is essential and here is an idea.
You could have channels. So if you were on a big public server and you and some pals wanted to do a small unit movement without hearing all the noise of the main voice channel you could go to channel four and listen and hear only your own little squad of say four people. Then you won't get confused by other orders and won't be taking orders from a guy accross the map accidentally. and say if something important like "retreat" needs to be told to all teammates including ones on diff. channels you could use the normal vsay commands.

That would be a neat feature. I think that it would be pretty hard to implement...because in my eyes it seems like the server would get alot more traffice and bandwidth use which could cause lagspikes for clients.....or maybe I am wrong...seems logical anyway.
