By now some of you must’ve seen the threads about female models and skins for SOF2…?

This is a rare (marketing) opportunity to reach out to female gamers (a growing demographic; many of whom might be playing UT2K3, Quake 3, et cetera right now) and make a positive statement that you’re a 21st-century company who’ll be going somewhere in the 22nd. It would cost you nothing to use a combination of heavy-hitting community talents like Fragger and the female models/skins already in SOF2 for DM and add them in a patch. It’s a can’t-lose proposition you can only gain from.

I love SOF2 and will always consider it a classic… but if you drop the ball on this, I guarantee that someone else will pick it up and run. They’ll be making the games your sisters, girlfriends, and wives (not to mention many, if not most men) play in years to come while the bean counters wonder why Quake IV sales are down.

If this is where to put it.

We have 5 female members in our clan (23 total memebers)

As well as the few female members on the servers i admin.

The biggest request I get is that they want female models for Inf, Dem and CTF gamemodes.

They don't care about anything else and you should have heard them when 1.02 and 1.03 patches came out without female models.

I hope you plan to include female models for those gametypes in 1.04, there will be quite a few pissed off female gamers around if you don't.

I may be mistaken on this but if I recall Raven had one or more law suits brought againist them by womens groups because the orginal SoF seemed to protray to them (not most rational folk) that it was okay to abuse woman.

Where they got this idea and whether or not Raven won or lost I don't know, but ether way I could see why we don't have female player models to openly run around with.

So to our female counter parts in the community if you want games to have a female aspect to them you need to get in touch with a these groups and let them know that they are not working in your best interest.

Any ways take this with a grain of salt...I could be recalling this all wrong but I'm fairly sure I'm right (hehe other wise I wouldn't post). ;)

cya on the pubs.

only one thing though Nologic

Female models are available in Deathmatch and TeamDeathmatch but not in the other gamemodes.

It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't available in all gamemodes but the fact that they are is not lost on our female members.

Lots of grumbling ;)

Yeah, I think Raven and Activision are smart enough to know that the risk of lawsuits from the tinfoil hat community would be pretty low...

We're not talking about models of abused and helpless-looking women, anyway: These are the female soldier-types, many of which are already in the game.

the fact that they are available in DM and TDM is probably a token offering...to totally nix woman out of the game would get you labled as a sexist, but if you have them running rampant through out the game your abusive sexist. ;)

Guys really I don't know why other than I seem to recall at one point Raven being hauled into court...which I might be wrong on as stated above. It could simply be the fact that they had to kick the game out the door and didn't have time to finish up some content like female models for MP. We all know that MP was a rush job and put in at the last moment, and frankly I'm amazed at what a great job Raven did in such a short time frame.

Slappy -

hehe tinfoil or not those kind of law suits are filed all the time. Oh and it makes not diff if the female models are as butch as they can be or barbie dolls the merts are the same.

oh I am not having a go at them about the game, I love playing it.

Just a mention that female gamers we have are not happy about the fact that they have to run around in male clothes and models and get to he was killed by, etc ;)

Be a nice addition if they support the female gaming community (small as it may be).

I don't know how hard it would be to port the existing female models to the other gamemodes. I am not a programmer, but it would stop the grumbling I get from the female gamers I know.

And you know how females can go on about something :p

hehehe

no offense to any female members out there ;)
