I have a p4 1.6 ghz system, 512 mb ram, ati radeon 7500 w/32 mb ram, running win2k professional.  I have used directx 8.1 with the same problem and now I am using directx 9.  I have the latest drivers for everything...sound, video...etc.

On levels like col1, my fps drops to 50 or below, but on other levels mpshop2, or mpair where it is mainly an indoor level, my fps jumps up to 100 fps or higher.  Is there a way to make the fps stay up neer 100 on all levels.  It consistently drops when I go to an outdoor level...any of the rmg levels drops the fps to 50 or below....please offer some help as to how I can alleviate this problem...or if I can?

I have the same exact "problem"

but I dont think something is wrong with this..
It just depends on the ammount of walls etc to be generated.

outside you have much more to generate and inside you only need to generate 1 room

with me its the same. i got a p4 2,4 , 512 mb ddr and  an asus gf2 ti 500. im using xp pro and got all the settings on medium. and in some parts of the maps i got frames of 142 and in some parts they drop below 80 or even 70. i can understand that when you are in a battle with others and they are flame nades and lots of people running around that the flames drop, although i dont know why.
i tested lots of settings but still , even if i put the maxfps lower than 142 they are still droppin about 40 or 50 % in some situations. if anyone knows how to could keep the frame-dropping as low as possible please tell me !!!

thanks in advance

the "problem" is with ur video card.  its a 7500.  period.

a p4 @ 1.6 + a 7500 should = the performance ur getting right now.  outdoor levels (like the col 1n's) have lotso grass, trees, all that good stuff.  that's a lot harder to render than a plain old wall.

with my rig (mind u i've got EVERYTHING turned up, including AA and Ansio) my FPS top out at around 300 (if i set my max FPS that high) and in some of the RMG's it goes down to 80-90.  That is accetable for me.

you could try changing your picmip settings in the sof2.cfg file.  I may be wrong, but i think the lower the # the lower the texture detail.  this could help out ur sad old card seeing as it only has a measly 32mb's of memory.

I also am having lower framerates since the 1.03 patch. I have an athlon 1.5ghz with 512mb of pc2700 and a GF3 Ti200. I had no problems until this latest patch. The lowest I saw my FPS drop to was 65 on a rmg but usually at 100 or so. Now on every map I play, in every server, it will drop to 40.  :s9: This frame rate fluctuation can be horrible when occuring at the wrong moments  :(

i was wondering if there was a way to 'freeze' your fps at a certain level?
i mean..  i can be in a server, not moving, and my fps fly up and down really fast, like 50-80 and back again in the space of a second or so
makes it difficult to judge how you are gonna keep your aim on people, when it keeps flicking around

Richard Ramirez, you say that your fps go as high as 300 fps.  How is this possible, in sof2 the max fps is only 125 fps...that is what my screen says it can be.  Is there another way to raise the max allowable fps?

Bring down the console(~), and type

com_maxfps x

x=any number. I would keep it lowish, you want you FPS to be consistant.

what he said ^^^ lol....

u can also do it manually.  just open up the sofmp.cfg file, look for the maxfps entry, and edit it accordingly.
