i have an mx500 and have the same problems...

the problem is sound related, make sure that when ur playing to close any program like winamp, media player, etc.  although there are several other things sound related that can cause this problem...u might want to try this, my clanmate said it worked for him

The best thing to do with any new optical mouse is to just plug that sucker straight in and see if it works.  If it DOES NOT work, then install your Logitech drivers.  Or take it back and get a microsoft mouse and it will work fine.

All you have to do with the side buttons is map them to a key.  For example, you want the back button on the mx700 to be reload.  Map the button using the mouse properties to whatever key you want then in the game map reload to that key.
