XSI EXP for Half-Life 2 let's you create models right now. Want to get a head start on that mod? XSI EXP for Half-Life 2 is a complete version of SOFTIMAGE|XSI that lets you output Half-Life 2 characters, props and worlds.

You can find out more from SOFTIMAGE or download it from fileplanet.

Downloaded this program today. After the install I had 648mb's for the program. Very large program. Anyway after loading the program and trying to launch it there seems to be a bug in it. First it said I needed to change my resolution to 2048X1024. Hell, I can't see that small. Anyway I went through a couple of more prompts and waited for it to load. Never happened. Pretty much locked up and wouldn't take an End Task so I finally got logged off. Tried to run it a second time. Still wouldn't launch completely. It was using up all my resources though. So I guess looking at this program is out of the picture now.

that' really sucks. I bet it has something to do with the video. This program is REALLY hard on both video and memory.

Yup, that is the one. I was really disappointed. Sat there for over an hour during and after the install. Finally had to roll my computer back to get rid of it.

Good thing I haven't had the chance to download it yet then. heheh thanks for being the beta.

Hope they make a more stable program. Thi scould be a serious issue to the Mod idea that I have for the new engine.

Cheers

Your new pc might run it but don't screw it up right off. lol
If you got some system backup software going make a system back up or restore point then load it up. I have been using GoBack for some time and it has saved my arse plenty of times. Maybe they were running that program on dual xeon processors and 2 gig of ram. hehe.

It works ok on my pc my spec is
Amd 1800 xp
512 PC133 ram (slow)
GeForce4 Ti 4200 128mb
I do have to turn the screen res up so much it is very hard to read anything and I had some trouble registering it I had to use a 2nd email and reinstall it.
But after that I downloaded 500 mb of videos and tutorials to get me started.
Never had a go at modelling before so it should be fun and it only uses half my ram with programs running in the background.
You might of just been unlucky when you tried to run it ReDrUmMDK maybe you should give it 1 more try it might work I had to install it twice to get there.
