This is for Newbies -

If you're getting slaughtered, don't worry about it.  This is a game - real life squad tactics do NOT apply unless you're on a private server with a bunch of 'clued' in dudes.

In the real world, Multiplayer is a joke - yes - bet your bucket - I been there:  In terms of real life infantry tactics, capabilities, and weapon systems.  If you want proof, join the US ARMY.

Chances are, if you're getting slaughtered in SOF2Multi, you just haven't figured out the "GAME" necessities.

So hang in there - don't get discouraged.  And if a 'server' or player(s) starts 'ragging' on you, note the server and find another place worthy of your time and energy.

This game is built for fun - not reality,

BullsEyeBob,

If you want to be cute, find your own worthless topic.

I happen to seriously like SOFII, and would like to encourage those who may not be 'game-experts.'

New sales are good for SOFII.  Don't cut Raven's throat.

As I'm sure Raven would confirm:  New consumers are welcome.

Do us a favor - go find another product to test your resource wasting humor.

Oh God what a "Sickening Sweet" post that was!
I really hope and pray that all the "Newbies" out there sleep
so much better now. Hey JayRant, Can you post something about Mother Theresa now? Or can you post something about all the wonderful pretty flowers in the world?
Well, gotta go help a Elderly Lady cross a busy street now...

Jayrant,

Thanks for your post.  This game is as much "feel" as it is "skill."  Framerates and ping also make a difference as they do in all online shooters.  I do not play as much as I used to; as a result, it takes one good round to get my aim back.  I always shoot full auto and can tap gently just to get one shot.... takes awhile to get the "tap" back.  I also use a left-right quick step while holding my aim... again, it takes awhile to get that back.

My most recent experience was burning up my raid 0 hard drive (OC'ing will do that).  With a freshly installed system on a single 80gig Seagate this time, I reinstalled SOF2.  This gave me the unfortunate experience one would have just buying SOF2 and getting it to work online for the first time.

Can anyone say PunkBuster blows chunks? Do I get an Amen!! Please, don't waste you typing skills telling me how easy it is to get the thing set up.  I had it running fine before.  But going from scratch with a fresh install is more than irritating.  Just clicking on PunkBuster in the game (from a fresh install) did not work.  This is not real game integration.  I could not easily remember the console commands... why should I have to.  So over to  Even(un-even really)balance.  Well, after clicking too many pages,  I read 3/4 down the page to the pb_cl_enable... swell, then to the pbweb (are they for real?).  Gotta put it in the right thingie.... Heh!  You wanna' know where you can put it?

Why do think gaming magazines are written by journalist majors?  They know how to follow the logic of real people.  They are not written by egomaniacal, techie trolls out to make a buck ala a contract with the silk suit crowd (out to make a buck by ignoring the sensitivities of gamers..... AAAArrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh!;)

I feel better.  May Activision release Tony Hawk "wheelchair version" and sell just 6 copies... all to Evenbalance.  Then they can both just wither and die.

Ah yes... I feel much better now.  I think I got it running.  It is frustrating to think of the hundreds of people buying this game after the introduction of PunkBuster and never getting online or into this community:  they just ain't gonna' jump through all of these hoops folks.

Jayrant is right, a game won't ever be the same as real life... if it'd be like real life it wouldn't even be fun. At least I don't see what's fun about crawling through dirt in between of the bodies of your dead mates while knowing that you are the next one to get shot without the ability to respawn.

Such as leaping over their head stabbing them in it with an AK bayonet.... :s25:
The game was actually intended to be realistic, remember. Though I guess that was the SP part more than the MP part. It's only a game, and team tactics do work, they're essential for winning clanwars.
