My game crashed on MP today and did the "send error report to MS" thing. I think I may have deleted some files need while trying to get rid of some custom maps & skins etc.

So I tried copying some files from the CD but it didnt help.

I then tried a reinstall which didnt work - the same as a fresh reinstall. I kept getting the I/O error.

So then I unerased the game with norton and used the wiser.exe prog .. but it didnt tell me which files were corrupt :(

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I have tried everything and Im going crazy thinking I may not be able to play SoF2 anymore  ???

One thing I have also tried is copying the CD1 files on to my HDD but it wont copy the set-up file in the set-up folder, something to do with a redundancy cyclic  :(

I did read that it was something to do with my CD drive being too fast so I tried slowing it down with Nero DriveSpeed - that didnt help either!

but it did say some files were corrupt??

u can just compare the size of the files between the cd and hd, but they are not always diferent even when corrupt

i thin wiser2 stops at the corrupt file so the last one scanned should be corrupt  ???

if u cannot manualy copy the files in windows try it in dos if u have 98 or earlier

ok I realised that when I unerased them - the game didnt think it was installed anymore - update 1.02 had disappeared and when I tried to reinstall it - it said that I did not have a valid copy :/

So - now I have deleted everything again - I need to install, but I keep getting the error message :

"An I/O error has occurred while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file."

Do u think its reading my previous install from somewhere in my registry maybe? How can I completely rid my machine of SoF2 so I can do a freash install? .. or is it something to do with my CD drive speed (which I have slowed down to 2x and 8x and it's showed the same error message)

Thx 4 the input

EDIT: By the way I managed to copy the file in the end (in a very strange way) but I got the same error message on set-up
