i am interested to know if its possible to add animations to the existing character models? + there is no specific information in the sdk on how to create new character models, any info on these processes is greatly appreciated.

also is it possible to have a new character without replacing one of the existing ones? im asking this because i realise we dont have access to the SP sourcecode and that somehow they would need to use the existing ai.

As far as I know, you cannot add new anims to existing characters but you can use the anims on your own characters. You must then have exactly the same bone setup.

Making a new character model is the same as making a new weapon. just a little more extended.

Don't know about the second bit :(

He's right, you can't add new anims to existing characters right now... you can only create a whole new character and start from there.

I can help out with the second bit.  This is done through animatEd.  The AI knows about animations from the .skl file which is built up by animatEd, so you can specify which animations are used for which types of behaviors.

how do you use the old anims on a new model stannum? i will definitely want to try that :)

mech, when you say right now do you mean the sdk tools might allow that in the future or do you mean the original character/animation files might go into the sdk?

You can't add animations to an existing model because of the tool path.  Carcass needs _all_ the xsi files to export to glm.  This is the same problem elite force and jk2 modders are having.  There is _some_ talk about making a tool to allow this, but nothing has been decided.
