Personally i am tired of waiting for so called SP support for SOF2 to turn upand think that the reason there arent many SP modders and mappers out there 4 SOF2 is because of the woeful amount of support available from raven (apart from the forums) using the Goul2 engine/models etc scripting and basically everything.

Anyone agree with me?

Oh yeah, I certainly do agree with you mate.

I've found that when it comes to SP stuff you just have to experiment with trial and error testing all the time, especially with scripting.

In the last week from trial and error scripting, ive managed to go from having a completely dumb NPC, to having him walk to a point and play an animation and loop it. I have yet to experiment with camera's which will be fun *sigh*

I might try and look for additional forums for SP support cus scripting is just so hard. Yes, raven included a doc file for you to read, but its seem more of a 'reference' for people who know what they're doing. You couldnt give to someone who knows jack sh!t and then after reading it, they'd know what to do. :(

Sp stuff is very similar to mp stuff, only you don't have the source code.

5t3v3,

I sent you a personal email letter asking if you would be willing to communicate as to how you got a NPC to react
to script files.  I know how to create script files using the
BehavEd (script editor), and have basic knowlege on SP SDK
mapping.   Would you be willing to share how you managed to control a NPC character using a script file? At present it appears that I am am getting close to the solution on how basic scripting can control a given NPC but am not there yet.  I would be open to email communications should you be willing to provide some help.  I am an ex-Bell Labs
Integrated Circuit Designer,  Database Developer, UNIX/Linux guru, and programmer.  So in short I would not labor your efforts on a lot of stupid questions.  I would only ask for some specific examples with some terse text help file if deemed appropriate on your part.
Lastly,  I have a fully functional sof2sdk  SP package installed.
So I do not have any problems with the underlining SDK package concerning creating maps etc..

Thanks in advance for the consideration.

Whoops,

Forgot to mention.....   5t3v3.   If you go to the GDConnect Forum.......http://www.gdconnect.com    you will find some
people that take sof2 mapping seriously.  A few of us are
currently trying to find out how to get involved with mapping
NPC actions such as is found in some of the Colombian missions, with full control of what Multi-Squads of Marines for instance can do.
Perhaps you can contribute some meaningfull information.

cheers

Good job you posted a reply saying that you'd sent me an email grb else I would have never seen it. The email address I use to sign up on forums is my junk email address, and if you saw how much crap i get sent to the hotmail account you'd see why. lol

Ill check out your email in a mo and try and help you :)

There's been some confusion over how exactly scripts are activated.  There are many methods but the most basic is a scriptrunner that is the target of a trigger_multiple.  The scriptrunner has a key value pair including "script" and the name of the script to be run. See the sample kamchatka .map file for an example.

mechanodroid,

Sorry I did not respond sooner.  That was rude of me. I have
been so tied up in personal email communications with Narc
at the GDconnect forum regarding scripting etc., that I have
not logged into this forum for some time.
Thanks for the information you provided here.  At this point I
have figured out most of the basic scripting commands in order to have a team of U.S.A. Marines move around a map,
take out badies,  have badies pop out of buildings (sliding doors) and run to a given nav point etc..
So in short I forgot I had asked this forum for help on the hows of scripting.
Again sorry for not getting back sooner.
