Why are you playing on all low settings with a 9700? Thats a waste of the card. Go through the support forums at http://www.rage3d.com/. The link is on the left side. There is going to be a fix in there for you, I guarantee. And try running SOF2 at full everything ;) That will show you where the card really shines. I also recommend the tweaker they have for download at http://www.rage3d.com/. It does a good job of making all the config options readily available and changeable. Also explains them a bit too. So good luck :)

Yes, why are you running in low detail?

When you play on low settings with a card like that your not using your cards power but the processer's power, at low settings a geforce2 would match the Radeon 9700.
Pump everything up on max including res of 16x12 all the AA and it will play like it should "mind-blowing" play a game with low settings and you will have problems, those sort of cards are not made/stable for low settings.

Did you delete your sof2mp.cfg after installing the new card? Maybe SOF2 redetects the video card each time, but maybe not.

As for the low setting, I believe most people should be running at lower setting then they are(like those fools with GF2MX card running at 1024x768 and high detail), but not you. Record a demo of your playing, with lots of action, then use it to benchmark. Tweak your setting so you get the best graphics without losing FPS.

Put a demo script into you autoexec.cfg file.

Code Sample
//demo script
bind F6 "vstr demo"
set demo "vstr start"
set start "g_synchronousClients 1; record; g_synchronousClients 0; set demo vstr stop"
set stop "stoprecord; set demo vstr start"

Then play in back like this:

/timedemo 1
/demo demoname

After it plays bring down the console to check your framerate.

with a gfx card like that it would take a lot more then high settings to make ur game choppy. Type cg_drawfps 1 and it will show you your fps, anything over 50 is fine.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, lol, that's funny!

No, his framerate should never drop below 100. Though don't unlock it, keep it capped between 100 and 150, depending on your connection.

Did you figure it out???  If so let me know, I have the same card and I am getting some tearing with the graphics.  Dont know if that is what your getting?  I tried a geforce 4200 and the 4600, both did the same thing also.  My fps is really high, but the objects are tearing.  The only thing that i have found to fix it was to turn the vsync off.  But I used the same card on my brothers computer and his didnt tear.  I did everything to try to fix it, reinstalled windows, Dell came out to replace motherboard.  Every driver is updated.  I basically gave up and dealt with the tearing.
