Tom's Hardware has done a bunch of LCD monitor reviews, and they even check out how good they are for gaming.  I would suggest you check out the following links for different size reviews and make the decision yourself:

15" LCD Part I
15" LCD Part II
15" LCD Part III
17" LCD Part I
17" LCD Part II

Later parts usually include the latests monitors.  Also, be VERY sceptical of the manufacturers "specifications" as how these specifications are measured can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.

LCD Monitors are not good for gaming, anyone can tell you this simply because there not designed for it. CRT monitors however can obtain a higher refresh rate and allow for a more crisp playing experience.

Personally I haven't seen any LCD monitors that I would want to play games on, sure they are fine for business use but all the LCD's I've seen look pretty shitty for gaming.

Just read around I guess and try and see them in action at a shop...

I'm sticking with a big ass CRT monitor for a while longer.

LCDs are making a lot of headway in getting better for gaming.  Some of the newer ones can more than fill the job.  Sure, they are not as good as CRTs and are more expensive, but they do have their strong points.  You gotta remember that it is a heck (he11 is a restricted word?...) of a lot easier to bring a LCD to a LAN, and LCDs are nice if you don't have much desk space.

Personally I would rather spend the same money on a large 21”-22” monitor from Iiyama/Mitsubishi rather that on a 15”- 17” LCD screen. You may even have change left.
You need the big picture.

Agree. LCDs are still on experimenting phase, it hasn't got to the level that CRT has, and again price is still more expensive for saving space purpose only, unless if you're a person who needs to keep on track with technology.

I have the samsung you mentioned above. I use it exclusivly for playing sof2. I have never noticed any problems using it. If you have played with me, ya know I can keep up. I definitly recomend this lcd.
