I was just reading the article over at Gamasutra on the Postmortem: Raven Software’s Heretic II and wanted to email Jake Simpson but his email address is dead.
So posting here instead ...

Just want to say how reading your article about Heretic II at Gamasutra brought back all my good memories of such a cool game. It certainly sounds like you and Raven had a lot of fun developing it and I look forward to the day when you finally release Heretic III !

Sorry to say this but Jake Simpson doesn't work for Raven anymore.  You can now find him at Maxis, though I don't know his new email address.

Thanks for your reply about Jake, I was wondering if he left when his email address bounced. Now what would it take for Raven to do a Heretic III ... how many signatures ...

Someone actually had started a Hexen3 and a Heretic3 petition a couple of years ago... I'm not sure what became of them (I'm guessing by the fact that neither sequel has been made that there weren't nearly enough signatures :( ).

It's Activision that decides what games Raven makes since Raven is their star development house... officially Heretic2 was not a success, even with it being critically acclaimed as sleeper hit of the year, etc.  It just didn't sell enough copies... but as MRJ has said, this was very likely due to Activisions ad-campaign (they basically promoted Sin while ignoring H2).  ...of course the parallel release of Half-Life might have had something to do with it too, heh.  That was bad timing. x[

Pffft, Activision, they think they are so big. There will be a Heretic 3 or Hexen 3, just wait a bit. Raven has been busy for a while with double duty on JK2 and SOF2, and now that they are done, they need to work with Quake 4, so maybe after Quake 4.........

I'd really love to see another Heretic game. I kinda doubt it will ever happen though.

this may be the roung forum to ask but you know if raven is working on anything ealch beciedes quake 4 ushley they work on two titels at a time

A while back Raven said they were working on an unannounced title for the PS2...but that's as much as I know.  Raven does have enough staff to work on multiple titles, so I'm sure that if they haven't already started on another game they at least have plans for one.
