I am playing multi when at random times my comp freezes usually with a repeating sound and i have to power off my comp. How do i fix my problem?

I get this too.. at random times.. I might've been playing for an hour, have gone through map changes, kicked ass, got my ass kicked a bit; and then for no reason.. ZZZZZZZ freeze. Have to switch off my PC. Other times, I'll be on for 5 minutes, and then ZZZZZZZ freeze. This real loud buzz sound.. and my WinXP Athlon 2100+ with Geforce4 Ti4200 locks up dead. Nothing but a reset will bring it back. kieran

type "r_fullscreen 0" to run windowed, then when this happens see if Windows is locked up or if it's just SOF2. If it's just SOF2 wait 20min with SOF2 open to see if the "crash" clears up. One of the PB team mentioned a "crash" like that, that came back to life after 20min. I think it was cause by an edited PB file, but evenbalances forums and email are down right now so there is no way to check what file.

I had the same problem. It was caused by the integrated audio on the MB. Then i read another post about sound blaster doing the samething. So i went into my bios and there was some stuff about sound blaster so i turned it all off and it all works fine now.

no onboard audio here, and no soundblaster either, I'm afraid.

I'll give the windowed option a try.

the same #### happens to me sometimes i play for a while 1-2 hours then it freezes or sometimes i play for like 10 minutes then it freezes ......... i have latest PB installed for the peoples who's are freezin wot are ure system specs do u guys have windoes me? and by the way did it only start freezin wit newest patch because it did for me someone should fix this ####!!! i reeboot my system like 6 times a day when i play sof2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
