It seems the folks at PB have really screwed up this time... and at the worst possible time (late friday afternoon just before a weekend when they're all off work!.  Here's how to fix the problem:

What a disappointment.  What a calamity.  Like this could not wait until Monday?  Or even better, wait until it worked?

PB IS NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME.  HAVING TO CONFIGURE MY FIREWALL AND MANUALLY DOWNLOAD DLLs IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION.  I am going to say that 50% of the gamers that play this game will have no idea how to do this and will give up on the game for a while .. or longer.

I develop software for a living.  If I released code that was this poorly tested, I would get fired and/or sued.

If I put out a product like PB does, I'd be on the streets.

Even with the new version of pb (0.994) i am getting constantly booted from servers with the multiple initialization bug.

Anyone know how to fix this?    Thanks.

I'm a big fan of SoF2, and a big proponent of anti-cheating methods, but this is redicilous. I mean you have to be a fully certified network administrator now to get your _GAME TO RUN_.

I'm happy that I personally have enough computer knowledge, but this does not go for a LOT of people. Also that you have to open up UDP ports on your firewall is redicilous. I mean I though PB used HTML pages for their updates, which I thought was very clever since you can get through most firewalls like that, but boy did they mess up now. Again, most people just buy the game and don't even realise they can get updates from the website of the game manufacturer. So all in all this is pretty bad mark on userfriendlyness. (sp?)

In reply to the original post of a few methods of trying to overcome the problems with the new PB, I have tried these and they havent worked  . The problem both myself and my dad get now is that there is a slight jerkiness on screen every now and then, and we are very frequently both pinging out. We have spoken to our isp and they said that there are no problems on the line. It has only been since this new update. I can get in to play on servers and stay there, but with both our pings keep keep topping out this makes life very difficult to enjoy a good game. I just wish PB was released after being properly tested.
