Currently we have one of our servers is hosted by Elucid systems. It was great when he was with Descript, but now he switched and the performance of the server has really just gone in the toilet. He is running our ded-SOFII server with 3 other games on the same box and IP.

The server is a Linux box, SOFII 1.02, 14 player server running with FTP and SSH access for $45 a month. The server will lock up periodically (once or twice a day) and/or kick some players into Spec mode with a 999 ping until they disconnect or time out (running no custom maps). Has anyone heard of this type of server behavior?

I just want to know if somebody can recommend a good Server Host for about the same $$$ for what we are paying now or better with the same type of connection features, windows or Linux is not an issue of preferance.

Thanks all,

I used to have a fragquest server.. servo is impossible to get ahold of sometimes.

I use pcgameservers. Great connection, nice central locale (TX) avg ping on my server is 30-80 with the occassional guy floating around 100. Even european guys get 120ish

$3 per seat public server. (i.e. 20 = $60) with free RW hosting and free web hosting. He's also the most attentive host I've ever had. I've sent him ICQ messages at 4am on a weeknight and he'll be there and work with me till 6am.

I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

send him an email admin@pcgameservers.com

check out our server if you like also at 64.246.40.79

I very much appreciate you coming to the forums looking for another host instead of talking with me personally about the situation. I remember fixing your server many times because you had something in your configuration that was casing the server to lag.

I will take a look at your server again shortly. As for 4 servers on a box… If you have a p4 1.7 ghz box with 1 gig of ram, four servers is fine. Plus, since I know you researched this, 1 of those servers is private. Thus not getting nearly as much use as a public server. This is another reason why I am soon installing chroot.

If you visit the support forums you will see that I am online at least 12 hours a day to help you out and field questions of any sort. On top of that, I emailed everyone a few days about server upgrades that will correct problems like this.

I have nothing but respect for you as a person, please show myself and my business that same respect.

hmmmm this sounds a little disturbing seeing that we have tried to work with you on this and you basically told us we were crazy!  We arent little kids here! we know what we are talking about and don't call it a problem unless it is! at least this way we have gotten your attention which until now was non-existant!
thQ for looking into our problem now!!

I talk to Meph.

I don't speak with you. That may be the reason.

Besides, Meph and I were just on the server for 30 minutes and we saw no lag at all. What would you have me believe? What I see with my own eyes or something someone tells me? I have no doubt you are telling the truth, Im just trying to get to the bottom of this :)

We have just purchased 3 servers from them and so far there awesome, good pings, no lag, and Linux, price was good and so far were very happy with them, I recommend giving them a try, Linux commands were a little weird figuring out, but there support pages had step by step instructions and they worked fine, my game play had went up at least 30% just because of how smooth they ran, any questions, ICQ me and I will give you my honest opinion

Not to throw oil on the fire or anything...

But if your customers are not happy, then its their perogative to up and leave your service or talk to you about getting it fixed.  Its one of those things that comes along with selling a service.

I don't know anything about your company or your servers.  I dont play on them and don't rent from you.  But I don't know why you would be suprised much less upset to find out that customers might be out shopping for what they consider to be a better deal.

Well there are a few things on Our server that has issues simple things that im sure that can be fixed  i personally like Elucid and still will do bussniss with them we just need more communication thats all from day one we had configuration problems im no genius on configs but  i try my best especially with linux if it was just lag spikes i would say ohh well but i personally seen 10 peeps at a time ping 999 then get kicked to spec and  a few times after that but like i said that could be a varitety of things so lets just work on the problem without all this
Book Closed
Meph And Matt hook me up on icq or email i haven't bin around much latley so let me know what we have to do to fix it peace

Check us out, we run mostly 2.0 GHz Intel P4's with 1+ GB of RAM.  Normally only run 2-4 games per machine and they are very closely monitored.  We also have real 24/7 support and have fixed several issues for clients after 1am recently.

Our prices are extremely competitive as well:
