I just got a new graphics card for my Athlon 1400Mhz/512 MB DDR system. Now, when playing alone (for example on a player with no other players) I get like 95~115 FPS. But when other players are involved, no matter how i setup my graphic details (even "fastest" settings template), it's maxed at about 40 fps and drops whenever a lot of action takes place.

I like to think of myself as the tweaker type as I overclocked my processor & card, and set all the settings like AGP4X and fastwrites for my Detonator 41.03 drivers (also tried using templates from NvHardpage btw, didnt help), but I can't seem to find what's holding my system back. I'm pretty sure my video card isn't the bottleneck, and my processor shouldn't be a problem either.

What am I overlooking here? Is there some setting that's causing this? Or does it have anything to do with that my pc is an ICS client? :s22:

What internet connection have you? It could be a bandwidth problem.
Try disabling your ICS & see what happens.

I got cable with 60 Kbyte down/15 Kbyte up, SOF2's bandwidth setting is also set to "cable". And my ping is usually 50-70 ms. And umm disabling Internet Connection Sharing is not gonna help as it *provides* me with internet. I'm on a LAN and the main computer is connected to the internet, my computer is connected through ICS.

Put FSAA to 1.41 or eeven off...

Umm... make sure yer maxFPS isn;t set at 40 lol

I'm on a Athlon 800, gf2mx 256 ram, and i get an average of 90+ fps, down to 50 in high polygon areas.

Mind you i have vsync (makes no difference) and AA off.

r_picmip 1 with all details at max, save blob shadows, at 10x7 res.  :p

oh ya..

"60 Kbyte down/15 Kbyte up" ????
Are you sure more zero's donw't gto on the end of thoe #'s?

well hope you get that sh|t fixed

try going to ur video card options and change ur opengl settings to as high as they will go and then go to the direct 3d tab and change you textures for pci mode to, well it depends on ur card... i have a g4 ti 4400 and i have mine set to 110mb   try that..... i average 125-250fps   also chabge ur maxfps in sof       com_maxfps 300   i found that if you go over 333fps you get bad lag.... hope this helps

sof2 is very cpu intensive, i've got a athlon xp 1600+ and radeon 8500, changing to a lower resolution doesnt give me any more frames, but overclocking my cpu seems to.

If you really want more frames, get a faster cpu..

somethings u wanna check, do you have the latest via 4-in-1 drivers? do you have the latest detonator drivers? are you running with low graphics settings?

Frame hits are part of the game, the maps though very nice to look at have tons of triangles.. Solution is a faster cpu imo. and new AMD cpus are at most a few hundred..

Thats like asking someone to lose a little horsepower from their car to make it faster. :s17:  :s19:

When you refer to you by yourself though, does that mean SP? Does it ever go above 40? If it wont go above 40 even if you are looking at the floor then my guess would be your FPS are capped in MP. /com_maxFPS will tell you what its capped at. If your FPS isnt cappeda t 40, then like som epeople have already suggested you may want to see what you anti-aliasing is set to.
