It's crap for broadband, but it's a lot better then dial-up.

It's ten times as fast as dial-up, and more than most 512/128kbit people get. Isn't there some kindergarten song that teaches you to tell your left from your right and bits from bytes? If not, there should be! :s9:

I haven't quite fixed it yet, but how is lowering my clock speed or disabling fastwrites going to help me? That's like driving at lower speeds to get home earlier?? And it's not a detail level problem, or a graphical problem at all, that stuff doesn't matter. It's some other part of my system, but I just havent found it yet.. and I doubt I ever will if people replying here can't even tell bits from bytes

Ok, from now on I'll always try every bit of advice I get no matter how stupid it sounds (ok, no I won't). I switched off fastwrites & sideband addressing in the driver settings, and as expected my fps dropped after that. I turned them back on, and whaddayaknow? Problem solved!! Thanks xmc and others, for umm.. trying to help me! Although still the card doesn't perform as I think I should (but I haven't really tweaked it again), I can now at least get at the top of those player lists again Woohoo!
