Hopefully someone can answer this question. I created a Alphamap and shader file using EasyGen and after I add the proper sky textures and caulk I get the below error when I attempt to compile it.....???

Reading d:/sof2mpsdk/base/maps/testtressle1.bsp

I was hoping he would post some information but I guess he hasn't been coming by these forums lately...

here is what I have from him tho..

This tutorial is not ment to teach you how to use EasyGen, there are several good tutorials on that already. This is pertaining to getting your terrain into SOF2 without any headaches. It also makes the assumtion that you have created a folder in your textures directory called "terrain" without the quotes of course lol, and placed your textures you used inside of it.

First off.....DO NOT USE q3map to compile with. The version I was using (which at the time of this writing was the most current and claimed to support SOF2) was q3map_2.3.0a15-pr(The latest version supports terrain). Use sof2map in GTK Radiant or the SDK Radiant instead as it WORKS.

Now, for the sake of this tutorial we are going to say that we have already generated and textured our terrain and are ready to export it to a .map file from EasyGen. The first thing you should have done when generating your terrain was save the project with the name of your map first then made the terrain. If you did then when you click on export to .map most of the fields will already be filled in for you and can be left alone. Make sure that in the Shader section you change "common/caulk" and "textures/terrain" to "tools/_caulk" and tools/_terrain". This is the correct name and path of these textures in SOF2.

Once you have edited where I instructed you to you might want to check the boxes under General/Worldspawn options for "Insert into a skybox" and "Export all triangles" then export the file.

Open the map file up into GTK Radiant. You should see your terrain but you won't see it nicely textured. This is normal though so don't get worried. Now, click on all of the brushes of the sky box (if you chose to have your terrain added into one) and pick the sky shader you want to use. Deselct the sky box and select your terrain. Once it is selected choose from the editor menu "Make selected Detail" I don't think that is word for word as I am working from memory here but you will know it when you see it. Add in an info player deathmatch (if this is a mp level) making sure it isn't stuck into the terrain then compile.

Run your level in SOF2 and you should have nice pretty terrain with blended textures!

My buddy duhast wrote this up for everyone. More to come I hope..
