Author Topic: How do you piece a curved road into new or existing terrain? Here's an idea too.

2 questions:

1).

Saw Mister Earps tutorial on the snipping of a terrain patch to fit a straight road, but I want to put a curved road in my map.
I can't seem to get the hang of clipping and dragging vertices,
it screws up the texturing even when I can get it close.

2).
Also, has anyone ever tried just laying an alpha texture on existing terrain? When I tried it worked beautiful only your footsteps don't change sound when you walk on that surface. It defaults to whatever is underneath the alpha .

If only you could assign a sound to an alpha texture, it would save lots of time? Just curious if that is even do-able.

if the curved road isnt on a hill i would say just put it where u want it in the ground then use the CSG subtract then connect the vertices .... this would be a little trickier on a hill

Great thought but csg subtract doesn't work on patches.

You might try and move the vertices to the edge of your curved road. You do know you select and move them per Wyatt's tutorials.

Something I forgot. After you move the vertices and the texture don't look right. Replace the texture with another then deselect, then put your preferred texture back and and use the Cap option for the terrain mesh.
