here is a petition asking that games be sold in the same packages as dvds, which are alot better than jewel cases imo. http://www.petitiononline.com/pcgdvdcp/petition.html

But PC games are a lot more complex than console games.  They come with thicker manuals and with more extras.  PC games often come in multiple CDs because they don't USE the DVD format, duh.

The whole point of PC games are the freedom from the console driven market.

This petition is half-assed.

I really miss the old days of  computer gaming. Where you had those beautifull boxes. They were fancy and nice to look at. And the manuals were infomative and lotsa pictures most of the time. Its really a shame with those dvd boxes. I for one want my old game boxes back. They looked a lot better. I still have the the boxes from every game I have ever bought. The oldest would be the "epyx c64 game collection". Including california games,4X4 off road racing, street sport basketball and missions impossible. Does someone remember them? :s10:

My SOF2 came in a DVD-box with an extra big thingie to put the cd on.... 3 cds fit on the same thingy. I don't know what I prefer... I think a big box with jewel case looks more impressive, only they break easily.

Yeah Buster, I still have a lot of my old C64 games, most of them are just cassettes on their own tho, but a few like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dizzy have plush boxes.
Ahh the memories :)

I think especially the boxes from PC games in the early and mid nineties looked awfully good. Some games had even posters and other gimmicks with them. Falcon 3.0 came with 3 big military maps. Theres another reason why I dont like dvd boxes, they are shitty to pile.

That's why they won't break that easily, cuz they know the pile is going to fall over once in a while.
