maybe if you setup the SOF2 server as a DMZ Host you will get a better signal ?

hmm  i have no slow fps issiue and my netgear  rt 314 router

patch didn't effect  anything at all on that and  hosting a server

if i join as a client  i get well over 100 fps  ..if i set it that high in  the game ..   thats a setting you can  lock

com_maxfps

and it is in the in game set up screens  ..make sure you havent locked your fps too low  in the in game setup or viaany autoexec.cfg

sure my crappy 137 k  upload sucks  ...always did   but  hey  most  broadband providers lock ya in at a 128 k upload anyhow

what  kinda router ya got and what firmware version ?

make sure you update to the latest firmware  available for your router (you can usually find this at the router  makers  homepage )

what ports have you enabled ?

all i did was open ports  20100  - 20112 (on the server machine only)  then let  norton monitor those ports  via personal firewall and rules i created  in norton personal firewall

ie .. only have those ports opened for  the sof2.exe

+ have ya set each machine  up to use a different port  # why connection  useing the  +set_net port   via your command line for the game ?   as it says in monty's    sticky thred ?

dunno as i dont own your router or  know it's limitations  or firmware

with my netgear   the router is   the first ip  then  the  other machines are   ip's after that .. not before

dunno  if ya have a lynksys model tho ...    montybass has one tho and has always provided  valuable  help   for others that do

the main key is make sure you have the up to date firmware flash installed for your router

i have a linksys 4 port router.. i use dmz for the server puter and a different port for my second.. the server is 20100 port my game client is 20101. i can connect no problems through lan but i get 40-50 fps real bad. if i connect though internet via gamespy to my ip i get over 100fps.. its a lan issue.. also this did not happen with 1.01 patch thats why its weird.. so i did intall 1.01 in another dir in both puters and it works fine i get 100 fps connecting via lan.. so it has to be the patch..
who is monty whats his help site?

thanks, maybe i should try your router from best buy and see if it works, which router u have ? is it a 4 port with cable (not wireless).. thanks.. but like i said 1.01 patch i get 100 fps no problem its a lan issue.

I use dmz on my server because there is nothing there to hide, so i dont open ports, but i have done that and still the same.
1.02 is a CLEAN install on both machines because i was trouble shooting this problem.

i repied to ya via  private messages   but   i  use a cable/dsl netgear rt 314 router

very easy to set up and  i dunno  i like it better then the linksys   i tried before ..your router might just need a firmware update

like i said see montybass's sticky threds  at the top of this forum ..acually read all the sticky threds at the top of this forum ..alot of great info in all of em :)

The switch on your "router" (it's actually a router/switch combo) may be bad. Try

1) Plugging both of the computers into the other two ports.

2) Connecting the two computers directly using a crossover cable.

I'm guessing that it's probably coincidence, as nothing in a game patch will affect your router itself.
