I'm having an on going case of multiplayer crashing during the phase 2 loading screen.

I've found that the loading sequence conflicts with my ZoneAlarm Pro firewall. Using the program control I've allowed access to the SOF2MP.exe but that doesn't seem to help. I've also used the hot-keys alt+y or ctrl+y to close any firewall popups during the loading screen. Everything I try fails.

Is anyone having a similar problem? Is this a problem with my firewall set-up? Why wasn't this a problem with 1.01 or even 1.00? Any known solutions?

Of course I would like it to be kept on but will I have to risk my computer's safety to play?

Please help!

Ya' know, you're pretty darn smart Bravehart. Shame I didn't think of that.

Solved my problem.

Thank you.

I had the exact same problem. How do I open SoF2 in a window?

Thanks in advance.

Heres what I did:
-Open up your "Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helixfolder"(usually found in a folder called program files)
-Open the "base" folder
-Open "mp" folder
-double click on "sof2mp.cfg"
-box will pop up asking what program ya want to use to open it...use notepad and make sure you uncheck the box that says "Always use this program to open this file." **This step is very important**
-A window will open with all kind stuff, Just look for a line that says seta r_fullscreen "1". **Its like 3/4 of a way down**
-Change the 1 to 0 <---thats #0, and press file and save.
-Open your sof2 and it should only open in a window.

hope it helps!!!!

Nice post. I have always played like this. Alt & Tab lets me switch between SOF2 and anything else like my sound settings, all seeing eye etc without leaving the game. Everyone should do it :)

pressing "r" then "y" will tick the box and select ok

or just tick the updates frequently box in zonealar for sof2mp.exe and it will only identify it by path
