Mista,

That's what the purpose of these posts is.  We're posting information about our systems, about the various forms of "the problem", about the servers we've experienced the problem on, and about what steps we ourselves have taken to resolve the issue.  These posts make define this purpose exceptionally well.

my sof2 now works fine, like I said in previos posts, it was NEVER a Raven problem, nor my PC.... it was a configuration error that RAVEN FORMS helped me fix.... GO READ THE FORUM POSTS LIKE I DID AND YOU CAN GET BACK TO KILLING.

Same thing happends on one of two computers here. It will either just freeze, or reboot. Doesn't matter if I turn off auto-reboot-on-error, still happends.

The computer crashing is a
Celeron 1.2 ghz
Radeon 8500 (tried several drivers)
384 mb ram
Sb Live

I've tried a different CPU, a different videocard (a GeForce) and a different PSU. Same thing every time.

The other computer (Amd 1600+, Radeon 8500, 512 mb ram, Sb Audigy2) has never crashed.

Both run WinXP.

I just managed to fix my problems.  I tried everything else (the stuff that was mentioned in the forums but nothing worked)  Im surprised that no one mention to repare windows, and that was exactly the fix I needed.
I always thought that the problems were with WinXP.  What you should try is to use the repare option in WinXP.

How to do that:
1. Insert the Bootable WinXP disk
2. Restart
3. After it boots, say you want to install windows
4.  It will find that you have and version on WinXP already installed and will give you an option to repair
5. REPAIR WINDOWS
6. Dont worry you wont looses any of your files.  You might have to reinstall your video drivers just in case (if you're using nVidia video card, there's a new version of detonator driver released).

Good luck.   :)

He can run this game in lan and single player np.As soon as he connects to our local server his game hangs and the pc freezes. He has to do a manual restart.

He is busy trying the pb_1 thing. But I dunno if he was succesfull.

Any thoughts.?

Hello Im new to the game and never played Double Helix. I have been playing Gold Edition but for some odd reason it always crashes on me. What exactly it does is : Skips sound over and over, Freezes, or brings up error stating Kernal39.dll caused error.
My specs are:

Hp pavilion 8765c
128mb of sdram
900 mhz.
geforce mx 440 128mb.
Windows me
:s10:
Any suggestions on how to fix it.
Greatly appreciate it if you sent me an email on how to fix it on strike613@hotmail.com
Thanks for the help
PS Soldier of fortune 2 gold edition is the best game ever :D besides the freezing flaw. :(

Guys my first post on this forum and I have had a few beers!

OK I think I have sussed the WinXP lock-ups!

Everyboby has different GFX cards, Sound cards, and CPU's.

Anyone who tries to prove a link between all 3 will be shot down because someone will have a different GFX/Sound card CPU!

I thought the only common factor was WinXP but then I was getting stalling in the game with Win ME.

The way I saw it was that there must be a reason why some users get the trouble and some don't (I know so many XP users with the exact same system as me! AND NO TROUBLE!)

OK the only difference between my system and theirs was the fact that I am running 2 Hard Drives.  Tried all the other options on this forum and found NONE that worked!

Someone mentoined CPU temp (whoever you are you are a star!!!!!!!!!!!) so as a last resort I re-booted after my last lock-up and found CPU temp as 63 deg (cent).

Now that is ####in high and about 10 Deg above what I was getting before I started getting the lock-ups.

Now I figure :-

a_thermal paste on CPU is buggered but thermal paste will only affect about 5 deg C
b_my fan aint up to the job - I use a "Coolermaster" fan well upto the job
c_I am a magictrician(electrician) and as I see it the PSU can only supply say "300 Watts".  Adding extra devices will draw more power. When the PSU hits 300 Watts it cannot output any more so all the resourses inside your case will not get the voltage they need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I disconnnected my second HDD and BINGO! I have had the game working fine.

My next move will be to get a bigger Power Supply so that I can run 2 HDD's.

I have read on this forum alot about problems you guys are having - I have had these problems myself and that's why I read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So 4 you Uncle Jack heads that can't be arsed to read back to the previous posts - YOU LAZY TWATS!

All you have to do is everytime you open up the game, open the console and type "pb_system 1".

Don't know how, don't know why, but this one works for me  :D
I was going crazy. Tried 'em all. Fresh install, drivers, etc. etc. I had the problem only with PB enabled servers. The game just freezed up giving no other option than hard reset.
I've inserted that command in the CFG file, everything now is fine (just lemme cross my fingers...  :) )
