During any given game of Sof2, around all but 30 or so megs of my 512 RDRAM is used up with an additional 600 from the page file.

What the #### is up with this ####?

I mean, the only games I have ever seen that used more then 250 megs were suffering from major ram leakage problems.

Anyone else getting this?

what operating system are u using???

in the settings have u put the logivity to none?? if u dont it will not unload anything till it has to

the textures in the game are very big, if i load more than 4 sets of texturs in radient (especialy kamchatka) i get windows telling me it has used up all my ram (512) and all my page file (300) and it is now enlarging the page file to cope, which is pointless cause its crahsed radinet by now any way :p

Thanks for replying.

I have Windows XP - Home Edition right now.
All in game settings have been maxed out right now (as it's still playable), so I'm sure the longevity is as well. Even so, that much ram? It seems a bit extreme. Thanks for the info, though. I'll tone it down and see what happens.

Just changes all longevity options to short, and then none.
Still, around 30 megs left on physical ram and a small drop to a still extreme 400 from the page file

i use xp home as well, never reallly checked the memory while it was on before.

just tried it (i dont have the setting all at the max, most at med) i have 40meg of ram free ??? and it uses about 360meg of my pagefile (which is suspect when i told windows to cap it at 300 :p)

since it still works fine, rember the saying, if it aint broke done fix it  :)

Turning off texture compression would use that much RAM with very high texture detail... Windows has to keep a copy of them in system memory in case something else needs the AGP memory (eg. from a task switch).

Discussion about design flaw in Windows/OpenGL not really appropriate here.
