This morning when I opened my current SP map in Radient a few of the brushes were missing. I thought no big deal, I must have deleted them by mistake yesterday. So I just thought I could load the last version of my map (I save incrementally and often) grab the pieces I need and load them into my map. But lo and behold, the other saved maps also had these exact same pieces missing. Yet yesterday I everything was there and I as able to play the map. The pieces that are missing are floors and ceilings, as well as greeble on the walls, so I would have known they were missing when I played it in the engine. Yesterday I hid some lights and enemies, but other than that, nothing is hidden. What really gets me is that the other maps, maps I haven't touched in days, also have the same pieces missing. Even though I can't see them in the editor, if I do a bake they do show up in the game.

Has this happened to anyone else, what's going on and is there a solution? (I've already tried removing my sof2sp.cfg, doesn't help)

Thanks

K

I noticed something similar when I had selected about 10 brushes of different sizes and ajusted the scale. When i moved the brushes to center them... a few just dissapeared.... for no reason.... I don't have an answer for you but I share your pain.

so what happned exactly ?
Did the brushes go completely 'blank' ? Or just some faces on the brushes ?
And ifso, what texture was on it afterwards ? The 'caulk'- , or 'no-texture' -texture ?

What had happed was this: I had opened the kam6 sample map to rip it apart to see how it was put together. In doing so, I turned off the detail brushes. When I was done, I closed Radiant and went home. The next day, I opened my map in Radiant and "poof" all these map pieces were missing. I thought I had checked to see if detail was on, but maybe it wasn't. In any case, turning off hide detail brought them back.

Ctrl + d

Some one on the MP player forum is having a similar problem so it will be interesting to see if we did the same thing.

Seems to be an issue with the UNDO and curves. I had that happen too. Grrr.

Here's a tip- when you have any class which can be hidden (detail brushes, curves, entities, etc.) and you view>show>show detail brushes (for example) the class type will toggle off and those items will be hidden in all views. (Just what you'd expect)

Here's the kicker- when you close the map and reopen it, the entities will still be hidden BUT the check mark in the view> show dropdown menu will now be checked on again! That's why I didn't find it the first time because I assumed the check mark was accurate. So if you are ever missing anything, toggle all the switches on and off.
