Which has the best quality graphics? An older, $19.99 at release game, Serious Sam, or the newer 2.5 times more expensive SOF2?

Edit: Screenshots deleted, because this thread is old and this game (SOF2) is DEAD!

Someone care to post a nice SOF2 Screen for us? I don't have it installed anymore. It has to be one that you can get a consistent 60 frames with, like my SS screen where I am getting about 90 frames. Jacking the settings up and getting 7 frames per second would not be fair.....but it still wouldn't look near this good anyway.

have you seen the animations in SS? their incredibly cheap.... (refer to Doom)

What about the gameplay in SS? you don't have to aim there, just close your eyes and keep running, you'll finish the game in 7 hours...

SS is a great game, when you're extremly bored... The only positive point about SS is the Co-op play... wich is actually pretty good..

as for the image quality...

OH COME ON !!!!!!!

ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO MATCH SERIOUS SAM WITH SOLDIER OF FORTUNE 2 ??!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, if you have a good graphics card, you would be an A$$ not to notice that SOF has better crisp detail graphics !!

Have you ever put the resolution at about 1024x768 and Textures at Very High ??  And then take your binoculars and zoom on someones face and THEN TELL ME WHICH GAME OFFERS BETTER GRAPHICS !!!!

SOF2 offers crisp detail and realistic lighting, unlike Serious Sam !  You could see their eyes like you are looking at real life eyes with complete movement too. Now who can match that !!!!

I wish I had more webspace so I can upload my latest screenshot of SOF2.  I did like I said above to see how much detail you can see !!  You can actually see your enemy's pours on their faces !!! (If you max out the graphics by the way).

Come on now dont try to match SOF2 with an old game like SS !!  That is just ridiculous in my opinion !

First of all you only think SS looks good because of its architecture, which isn't even all that impressive - Large boxes/triangles/pyramids with some quite impressive textures. The monster and weapon geometry is very basic, even if they do have nice textures, and have you ever looked at any of the weapon effects on the energy weapons and explosions? Very simple. SoFII has incredible physics (counting the fact that it is the Q3 engine), the textures when maxed out are INCREDIBLE, as are all of the geometrics on the models and weapons. Just because it is set in an area which does not involve impressive Egyptian architecture does not mean it does not have better graphics, it merely is less pleasing to the eye in screenshots (and yes there is a big difference).
And wow, lens flare? Come on, why the #### would you get lens flare? Unless Sam is wearing some very strange glasses :p

Thats true tyranith !

The only way you will get lens flare is by actually looking through a photo camera lens, video camera lens and other somiliar apparatus !  You never see a lens flare with your naked eye.

I need some webspace to upload my SOF2 picture !! Its very detailed and I want to show it to the author of this thread ! I currently have a small size account for a webspace (1024 Kb) with www.sigrealm.com.  The picture I have is too large to fi in an account like that.  Does anyone know of a webspace that provides at least 1 megabyte of webspace ??  I really need to upload this screenie !

Thankyou !

The idea behind Serious Sam is the locations are large, beautiful deserts with all the tombs and what not, while SOF 2 is all dark and serious looking.

<picture above>

That isn't the game in question. It's the second encounter, not the SS which was released 3 years ago, which was the game in question.
By the power vested in me by logic, I hereby declare your argument null and void.

Sh!t, even SOF1 looks better than SS1 so how can you compare it to SOF2??? I mean sure it looks all nice on a screenshot, but you are practically looking at walls and pillars, that's all. Just look at it, all square blocks. And the enemies have about the same AI as the ones in the old Wolfenstein 3D. Look at SS1's hands, it looks like doll hands... kinda like a puppet. Real skin doesn't look like that and his gloves look like they are tattood on his hands. Just showing a screenie of bricks and some nice bright sky without any enemies on it doesn't make a game good.
