If you buy computer hardware from compusa and you open it only to find that your new hardware doesn't work as expected YOU WILL PAY 15% OF THE PURCHASE PRICE TO RETURN THIS HARDWARE!!

I bought a GeForce4 MX 440 video card Wendesday afternoon from the Sawmill Road location in Columbus, OH. I installed the card and it failed to run my favorite game. So I packaged the new card back up and took it to compusa to return it Friday, less than 48 hours after I had purchased it. Because exchanging the video card would not fix the problem, I was charged 15% of $129.99 FOR NOTHING! They will exchange for the same model, but that's it.

So buyer beware at compusa. If that piece of hardware you buy works but doesn't perform as advertised YOU WILL GET SCREWED OUT OF 15%!! I don't believe in paying something for nothing - so this is my protest. Learn from my mistake and don't buy your computer hardware from compusa.

Most places tend to charge a restocking fee ;) It's nothing new. Buying a GeForce4 MX was a mistake in the first place, so you should take it as a sign hehe :p You should have just gotten a GeForce3 since they are faster than the GF4 MX series ;) But don't gripe because CompUSA charges a restocking fee, nearly every place does it, and if you read the receipt you would have known this, so you cant be mad at them.

Yeah where have you been. Most places do charge a restocking fee. I am warehouse manager for CompUSA. The store is better than most for computer hardware. And you shouldnt of gotten a mx anyways like the other guys said.

Hellcameawalkin - of course you like the policy...it screws customers out of money and puts it into the pocket of compusa!!

Oh, and as far as the receipt goes - I have never read one of compusa's three-foot long receipts. I #### you not, I bought 2 items the other day and the receipt was at least 2 feet long with a bunch of crap.

That's like me writing some software that doesn't work and you install it. Then you find out that it doesn't work like you thought it did, but because you still agreed to my End User License agreement you have to send me an additional 15% of the purchase price.

That's stupid. So is having a restocking fee on hardware purchased less than 48 hours ago. As far as I'm concerned I don't care how many stores do it, it's still wrong and I'm not going to take it sitting down.

Well someone has to take time out of their schedule that they COULD be tending to another customer. Instead they have to check that the hardware still works, all of the documents are there, and repackage it. You're paying for labor.

Well if you had done YOUR research, you would known before you bought the card that it was not going to perform well. I get sick of people acting like they should have their own set of rules. I guarantee you 90% of stores have restocking fees, I mean they either have to ship it back to the company and have it replaced, or sell it at a loss because it's an opened box. 15% is hardly anything anyways. You should be happy they let you return it at all, I mean it is after all your own fault that you didnt take the time to research whether this card was going to be what you expected or not. It's somewhat Nvidia's fault as well for marking those cards as GeForce4's anyway, they are about on par with the GeForce2 series, but you should have still done your research.

lmao youre lucky they even took it back. it was a totally fine product and you should have known what you were getting as it was more than likely clearly printed on the box and a store rep coulda helped you at anytime. the hardware wasnt faulty so i say you should be glad you didnt get stuck with a crap card and no money
