What R u gonna be doin on Sept 11th?

Personally ill probably try and avoid tv/radio and internet, it was bad the first time around I dont want day long pictures of thousands dying again.

I just read on another board something I had never thought of before.  Sure I knew thousands of people died in the attack, but what I never thought about was the fact that I watched them die LIVE ON TV.

When I thought about it it really really shook me, shocked me deeply.  I hadnt thought about that yet.  You hear about tradgedy and you know the death count was huge, but to think I was sittin at home eatin a sandwich.... Watching these people DYING.  Just sittin in my house happy as could be... Its not the fact that they died its the whole watching of them that gets to me, in my mind they were pictures ona  screen, and I didnt believe it when I heard, even when I watched it the extent of what had happened didnt hit me.

Now im obsessing about it, siting in work and my mind just keeps dwelling on it.......

Neway, this post did have a point, what u gonna eb doing on Sept 11th?

Oh and sorry for waffleing a bit, I have a habit of typing my entire train of thought!

I'll probably just go about my buisiness... which usually involves sitting in front of this PC.  *shrug*

I know my Dad will be staying out of his Sears Tower office.  He'll be spending the day at is company's main office.

I'll be at work.  The Tivo will be busy recording the goings-on so I can spin it to tape for posterity.

The FutureKids™ will have to be introduced to this stuff somehow.

I don't think it makes any sense to avoid tall buildings on the anniversary of something like this.  I mean, the first time was completely random (to us), why would another thing exactly like it follow such a predictable pattern?  I'm not against mourning, but avoiding something even remotely like the towers on Septermber 11, 2002, is a bit too much for me.

I bet if you worked in the nation's tallest building (as Agent's father does) you might have a different opinion after 9/11.

Maybe, but people that work for the government should also have the same fears, and I'm sure that at least my dad is still going (he works for the State Department, where people feared there may have been a car bomb, but there wasn't).  And don't say it's not the same thing.

I never said that at all.  Of course people that work for the government should be aware of it.

You acted like if you were in Agent's Dad's place you'd go to work like it was a normal day.

Personally, I would.  The terrorists are stupid enough to attack on one of the two days out of the year when there's the most security around really big things (other day is July 4).  Maybe Septermber 10 or 12 I'd be scared, but there's going to be a ton of security on the 11, and even if there isn't, the terrorists would have planned that there would be, and even if they didn't do that, they know that this exact conversation is going through every single person's mind: should I go to work on September 11 if I work in a tall building.  They're probably guessing that the answer for a lot people is going to be no, so it would kind of be a waste of their efforts to plan a terrorist attack on a day when there's less of a chance that they'll succeed and, even if they did, they wouldn't kill that many people anyway.  That's just the way I'm thinking it out.  I could be wrong.  Probably am.  Sorry to have taken up this space.

Why am I not suprised?

Anyway, a lot of it is psychological, but still, people capable of doing that are just cruel enough to do something else on the aniversary.
