By the sound of the thread I'm not missing much however. |
That's an interesting video card you've got there. I've never heard of a 'GeForce 2 TNT2 Riva'.. |

the battlefield 1942 demo runs and looks great on my system. it runs faster than sof2 but doesn't look quite as good because of the sheer scale of it, the maps are huge.
so far the demo is extremeley popular, it currently has 6,252 players. that is very impressive when compared to other FPS games, like when you say that more people are playing a one map demo than are playing RTCW (3,399 players) and UT (2,964 players) combined, or more quake3 (4,445 players) or 2.7X the current number of players in Soldier of Fortune 2. if they start fixing current problems and smoothing the netcode then i can see this game easily surpassing most MP FPS out there, possible even competing with halflife which has still 40,565 players.
note: all player numbers were gathered with ASE with the exception of BF1942 which i used the ingame browser. and these numbers were not gathered at peak times. |

| Quote (ThePunk @ Aug. 30 2002, 4:30 pm) | They are coming out with a patch in the next few days, but have pushed the full version back to sept 17th from sept 10th. This is due to Germany forcing them to remove Nazi references in the game. |
my god, the german government is whacky. they are making them change a game because it has references to history in it, granted it was references to the german government commiting crimes against humanity and whatnot but still, it happend its history. ` |

my comp runs it REASONABLY well, at default settings. 1 thing i don't like tho, is how i can snipe some1 driving in a jeep from 100 yards, but when i get up close, i can't seem to hit a thing. my gun will be right in some1's face, and they don't die.......*sigh*
i think tk'ers aside, its a hello of a lot of fun runnin ppl over with ur jeep |
it comes out sept. 10th |
meh....i said 3 months, cuz its a demo, and i don't really care enuff to go and look.... |

Ok Simple Question:
In your guys opinions what is better:
1. Op Flashpoint WITH the new resistance addon 2. BF1942
Personally i have been told by a a fair few people about BF1942, some say it sucks, some say its unbeatable, but i have come to this conclusion on why I dont think it is better than op flash:
1. BF1942 has 48 Vehicles and unit classes (so i heard). Op Flash Has over 120 Vehicles and unit classes that are official. not counting the 200+ unnofical addons.
2. BF1942, being published by EA means limited support. Look at how #### the support is for MOHAA. They wont even fix the Omaha beach level to include the objectives of destroying gun implacements.
3. BF1942, again being published by EA wont have half as big a fan base as flashpoint. Again, MOHAA, has what... ummm.... what is it, 2 or 3 mods? That are just sound and gore mods. I cant even find any extra mission to download. So i cant imagine Bf1942 having as big a fan base as flashpoint, but im most probably wrong.
4. BF1942 does NOT have a mission editor. Flashpoint does, and has done from Day 1.
5. BF1942 islands, so i heard arent even 1/4 as big as Flashpoints island Nogova.
6. BF1942 is unrealistic.
BF1942, so ive heard, borrows heavily from Flashpoints good points.
Now a few Q's:
1. Does BF1952 have vegitation and weather affetcs?
2. How many islands does it have?
Anyway, i think that BF1942 wont have many mods or addons. For the simple fact that it is hisoric, and is set about 60 years ago, so i cant imagine it having any present day type addons/mods. Flashpoint is present day and can have any mod based on any timeline.
Theyre my opinions and thoughts. |

Well the only map I've seen doesnt' seem all the "huge" sure it's bigger then the SOF2 maps, but it's not that amazing. I also diden't see any kind of weather effects or any kind of water graphics.. It diden't seem like alot of fun either. The few times I saw someone on the other team we just unloaded our guns into each other and mostly completed missed and had a pistol fight until one of us ended up dieing..
And the fact that the demo has alot of people is because it's a demo, it's new, people want to try it. I say that number will drop to 2,000 or so about 2-3 weeks after the game is out. |
