To get the general course of discussion back to the game that most of you guys who arent at work right now should be PLAYING, I came across an interesting thought.
When I compare SoF2 to the other great FPS games i've played which I can count on 3 fingers (quake2 being the last), I cant think of a single bug that i've run into that has disrupted my enjoyment of the game. Sure they will be releasing a patch with cheat support and undoubtedly some bug fixes, but really there isnt anything major.
So here are my conclusions:
- SoF2 is probably the first game I've seen that has had as few bugs as it did at release. - In its current stage, there are no true bugs that adversely affect mp gameplay. (disappearing grenades and map exploits aside)
I draw my conclusions based on the following:
- that my playing environment is perfect (fast computer, ultra-fast internet connect) - LOTS of playing time spent without a single #### problem. a few hours worth of demos to prove it.
maybe the reason everyone's so off track is because they cant complain about a true bug issue with the game.
if you are going to reply with a "i disagree" type post, tell us all why you disagree and leave out subjective things like "i swear i shot him and he didnt die so that's a bug" or "i lag and my 56k never lags with other games". it's gotta be a bug and one that others (even myself with my optimal configuration) can duplicate. i'm sure apox and ramrod are getting tired of babysitting, and that apox would like to get some real input on the game he obviously worked so hard on so he can fix it, be done with it, and move on to his next project. |

I've never had any technical problems with SoF2 ever, beyond a few mildly annoying MP bugs (disappearing grenades for example). /me knocks on wood On another note, what's funny is that the 1.00 AI in the SP game never really bothered me. I didn't find it frustrating on Consultant. =/ |

Multiplayer: Mostly bug free. The sniper rifles shoot up at the recoil point a lot though. IE: You shoot, the gun recoils, then the bullet comes out and hits way up in the sky. HPB's can't be hurt/hit by LPB's even if you do "hit" them. Grenades and bullets are just swallowed into thin air like the Bermuda Triangle in some places on the maps. Over all pretty good and fun though.
Singleplayer (let's not forget about that): Total bug fest. I won't even try to list them all, but the worst are grenades coming through walls from enemies who should not even know you are there. Enemies you can not hit because apparently the building or vehicle they are standing near has an invisible force field projecting 10 feet out from it in all directions.
Performance that makes it truely unplayable all together for many of us with respectable size and configured PC's.
God awfull ugly graphics. Blocky looking, bland dull textures, color banding, terrible, silly looking models/skins, jerky robotic animations, just ugly 4 year old looking graphics even when set high (as if anyone can run it like that over 10 FPS)....which begs the thought, why is performance so absolutely horrid when it doesn't even look good. It looks like Half Life but super dark (to hide the shyte graphics) at best.
Overall: The game looks and plays like and early beta. |
