Ive gone thru the manuals for terrain generation, and Im having various problems. Arioche terrain generation just game me a grid floor inside my box. So I went to the gensurf... it game me terrain, however the col3 metashader example never worked, other times I get textured terrain, but all one texture. col7 gave me a pool of weater inside my box, but no terrain. Lighting: how can I tell which skytextures emit light? Where do I alter the amount they emit. I keep getting black no lite sky. I've tried adding the q3_mapsun parameter succesful once, but still no sky texture. ANybody else using terrain yet? Can you "shed some light" for me? Chris |

Thankss for replying. As for the sky textures, it is the litle blue square I use... eg. finca1 or air1. No light tho. Is this because Im trying to use the q3mapsun light thing? I'll have to check some more I'll reply my results here. Also, after looking at the colombia multiplayer map lighting (the box version) I think I may prefer to use point lights anyhow. I'll post my results with thet here as well... the big thing if I get this lit, Is the metashaders.... A map just won't look right if the steeps don't turn rocky, and the deepest holes dont get muddy. Were talking stratifacation here. Chris |

Sorry Vortex, you seem to be miss understanding my question. I understand all of the heightmaps, 1 for the terrain, 2 the same one saved as a posterized 8bit png (manual says for png, you dont need to rotate or resize) As well as a black and white density map if you choose to use the miscents. Where do I save the .txt file that stipulates the six shaders and their parameters. Im working right out of the SOFII terrain manual. It does not say where to save the text file you create to determin what textures your metashader is created from. I hope that clears up my question. BTW thanks for dropping by to help... |

thanks AOG. I will chek that. For now... Id like to update my question status.
I have a 6000X6000 giver'take gtkgensurf terrain. Col7 metashader provided. My metashader saved in various folders was not found.
However.
My alphamap works great... as a PNG, no rotate no resize.
My sky tex, ( select all five, top, R, L, F, B.) choose the "sky" and make sure that, "normal" sky is sselected in your SOFII scalabiity menu. THIS IS IN SOFII NOT GTK.
Did I help anyone yet? I have some more work arounds... and am working around some more.
CAULKING, VIS BLOCKING, i have questions on utilizing these features.. as well as a theme to work with.
PM Chat me, I have details. |
