Hi all, sorry to bug you with another poll but this one has me thinking.

Sometimes it is just too hard to read all of the incoming team messages or typing a message to your team during the middle of a hectic Inflitration etc.

I am wondering whether people would like to see some hand signals like the AI marine team used in single player.

Sometimes you want to tell a group of people covering a room to be careful of a particular area, so instead of typing it you could hit a button which triggered an animation which pointed to the area you were facing and then triggered the voice message "Be careful", or "Enemy Spotted".

Also if you want someone to advance you would have the hand signal for someone to move out in the direction you were facing.

And you could have the hand signals to be triggered by the radio messages, so when you said "Take cover" your person could make a signal for people around him to take cover. It sure beats checking you radar to see who said something.

Do people want an option like this? What are the drawbacks of such a system?

I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this, good or bad.

me thinks that if it was just added ontop of the voice commands, it would be a neato animation.......for a day.
other than that, how many ppl listen when u tell them to take cover as it is?  the only ppl i could see this being good for are clans, and most clans that stand a chance have gotten their $hit together and gotten RW....

it would be a badass addon actually..but the problem is not very many people use teamwork to use them..so they would be pointless unless people used teamwork..

Wanted hand signals as well, but couldn't get the animations in (still haven't figure out boneAngles properly). Settled for the option of displaying a team mates last message above their head.

you are assuming most people are paying attention to each other and playing in teams. For the clans this might be a worthwhile option but just for general use it would be practically useless because noone is paying attention to anything but getting the flag or killing the others.

What are the chances of actually sitting in one place long enough for someone to do a hand signal, which you would then have to figure out?  Like killa d said, it would only be semi-useful for clans, but then they are probably already using some kind of voice comms or custom team talk scripts....

I think it would be pretty useful for teams who are defending on Inflitration or Demolition etc, attacking on the other hand might not be as useful.

I started thinking about this seriously yesterday when I was playing some long stretches as the defending team in levels such as Hong Kong Hotel, Kamchatka, Raven Offices, Finca etc during Inflitration. I think this would definately be an addition that should promote team work, an element that I enjoy when I can find a good team to work with.

On the Hong Kong level we had about 6 people defending the briefcase point and I wanted to warn them to watch a particular door since I saw the blue team poking their heads around the corner. There was about 4 of us all within 10 metres, so they would have easily seen me make a hand signal like pointing to a door. A simple "Be Careful" or "Enemy Spotted" isn't enough, you need to give them a direction of where the enemy is coming from, i.e. pointing in the direction.

Anyway good to read fellow gamers ideas on the idea, maybe Raven might want to thinking about it, or a modder might work out how to impliment this feature.
