hey guys hows yall?

i was just watchin in awe at the graphical quality of this game and its engine and then i thought, ouch, the machine used to run it must be bloody good man! (and i said this out loud).

wots the system req. for it? must be pretty tight. Halo PC was deemed highly demanding only a few months ago and still people believe it too steep. wot the hell will HL2 be like?

i reckon my PC will run it but the question that haunts me is: "will it riun it well?"

my specs: 2.4GHz P4, 256 MB DDR RAM, (only) nVidia GeForce 4 MX440 DDR 64MB AGP. 16x DVD-ROM or 40X CD-RW drive

According to the developers, your machine will run it as you expected... but not as well as it could.

From what I have read, your machine is meeting minimum requirements. Your 256Mb Ram will e just above the lowest setting, but recommended is 512Mb. Your video card might not be able to handle anything but low quality graphics. However, everything else sounds fine.

They want you to go out any by an ATI radeon card (I refuse to do that) but suggest that you should at least have a geforce fx card. I think I am meeting minimum requirements to get decent video with my fx5200 card and might consider upgrading when the game is actually released.

Remember, you have AT LEAST 4 months before you should consider to upgrade your computer. In that time, you might have considered upgrading anyway.

You have a 2.4.... is that an intel p4 2.4 800 mhz bus chip? If it is, you could get a whole lot more out of it if you desire. I have that chip and run it at 3.06 with superb stability (probably could get more, but it's fast as heck already).

thats sounds good! and as a more immature note a mate at college has a 3.06 P4 and has gloated.

how'd ya do it? i dont expect a complete run-down on the procedure but do ya have any decent web resources available?

i have planned on upgrading soon, so ill probably get a GeForce FX5900 Ultra from my local Maplin. i know this'll do it. it'll wipe my bank account out though. the xmas recovery may take a little longer

This was my first experience at overclocking, but was inspired by an article over at cluboverclocker.com

I kinda just did what they mentioned in the article and it worked out great for me. I upgraded the cpu, motherboard, heatsink, a new cpu and case fan, and memory.

I was quite surprised at how well it worked out. The only trouble I ran into was keeping the temperature down. After alot of forum questions, I fixed the high temps by removing my Audigy2 card (and now use the onboard audio) and used as5 silver thermal compound when mounting my heatsink to the cpu. It runs perfect now... I think better than stock.

damn i dont have a P4 2.4 C 800 MHz, i only have a 2.4 without hyperthreading enabled

No clue. We're using my sister's pc for now.. its a compaq.. and I never really liked them.. although one of my many, many uncles works for one of their companies..

Shoot, I think it has one of the slowest 3D cards ever.. it's probably an Ethiopian import ..lol

(mine is packing up, so ill have to get a new one, oh darn :D - i need an excuse to spend that amount of money, money that isnt really mine, but my parents)

lol.. her pc will barely run SoF1. ...and that game didnt require that good of a card, lol.
