i would like to protect my server from all the lame cheaters out there..

is there a system out allready that i dont know about?
if not will there be one in the future?

I believe some sort of cheat protection is currently in the works.

i run a pure server, does that protect me from hackers?

no acually pure server just means to join they have to have the same  pak files you have   ..so yes in a way  it does protect ya .. but not from  wallhacks and   some of the other explots that   most likely are possible ..you cant  totally cheat proof any game really these days  .. as once ya implement   some kind of system the  idiots find a way around  it  

even  john carmack said in one of his older plan files about the quake 3 engine    "play with your freinds"

as it  almost impossible to create  a game   and have it totally cheat proof ..i'm sure raven has   alot of ideas tho and heck they found and fixed some issiues with the engine already

Thank god...Tho I have not really seen anyone surprise me well enough to accuse them of cheating it is nice to see Raven actively making this game cheat proof.

hopefully it'll work better than punkbuster, which is to say it will work.

every little bit helps anyway.
