where do these kooks come from?

actually the only time I hear about cheats would be here, here and here. The forums are the only place I hear about cheats. Other than that it's the odd person getting owned in game accusing someone of cheating.

Anyone with intermediate "coding skillz" can do up opengl hooks to wallhack or tag certain groups of tris. It really isn't a difficult thing to code up, or counter. This affects ANY opengl game.

For Raven to take the bull by the horn at an early stage, and offer support should be good enough for everyone. Remember that just because a new form of protection arises doesn't mean that the cheating will disappear. Instead it will require further tricks from the cheater to move forward. Look at it like SafeDisc, or any other CD protection: there are always workarounds, whether it's v2 a newer variation.

Play as if they were skilled.  Own them with a different approach than you normally would.  M203 anyone?  If anything, playing the little twirps will ultimately improve your skill as a non-cheating player.

As a cheater, the worst feeling must arise when you are pwned by a skilled player. Yeah you! .. you know the feeling!

This was a good thread till Freak yet again added nothing to it and made it a name calling affair by instigating stupidity, which prompted others to join the silliness.

Man keep your BS to chat boards. There was a thread here about seeing you...No one said they ever saw you. Next time leave an ip so some of us can look for you and see you in "action"...LOL.

Zero next time post this in the Admin forum. This had merits and faults and at least you saw the way.

You all have valid points, besides the one that I was owned by someone and that being the reason I uninstalled.

I didn't uninstall due to being discouraged with my gameplay either. I uninstalled mainly because I do not currently have the time to dedicate myself to this game, and because there are many PUBLIC wall hacks/aimbots/auto-fires that work on all PURE/UNPURE servers. If you don't know what I am talking about, then you seriously need to make use of a search engine. (I am not gonna give you instructions.)

These wallhacks are near impossible to spot if used carefully (whereas aimbots are much easier to see), so for someone who takes the game serious enough to compete in tourney and ladder play, this kind of misfortune can really cause an impact on the fun level.

Yes you can find servers that have good admins, but even the best of admins can't always spot a haxor.

My personal view, is that when raven decides to make a step towards eliminating the bulk of the public hax. I will feel like spending more of my time playing it again.

Besides, no one really cares what I do with my game, especially as far as raven is concerned (after all, they already have my 50 bucks).

Let me rephrase my earlier statement. SOF2 remains one of the easiest online FPS games to cheat on. Considering it's only real protection is PURE (which has been hacked all to h3ll).

If you are wondering why I am even bothering to post, well... I like to check in here from time-to-time, to see if/when they plan to release an anti-cheat measure.

i guess i can only speak for myself in that i am not bothered by the presence of wallhacks and weird cvar's being out there. i'm havin fun shooting and getting shot at, whether or not the guy i'm shooting at can see me before i can see him.

not to beat a dead horse, but it all comes down to motivation. if someone gets their jollies off of cheating, i cant imagine that they'd do it for any length of time. if they get their jollies from playing a challenging game against a plethora (i pronounce it "pleth-ohhh-rah") of ever-changing people they believe to be on a relatively level playing field, then good for them! the 3rd school is those who dont cheat because they know it is wrong and childish, but also dont have fun because they dont trust that their opponents aren't tilting the scales in their favor by using nasty cheats. whichever school you belong to is up to you, but i'd encourage the 2nd
