Building your own gaming machine is cheaper 90% of the time than ordering a pre-built, assuming you shop around for components, in order to get them at the lowest price. If you feel the need for a pre-built I'd go with Falcon Northwest, Alienware is another, albeit outrageously expensive, option. |

Cheapest way to get a nice and fast PC is building it by yourself yeah...buying all the parts from the best sites which give you a good price and quality. That's what i'm doing with my current PC, and i have to say i've spent less than half the price i paid for my old one. Custom PCs are better...that way you know for sure what you're installing on it...you have the hardware you really need and you really want...if you know how to build a PC just do it. If you wanna play games like Doom3 in your PC at decent frame rates...i'd consider getting a Radeon 9700 at least, when it comes out...it will run that game very very smoothly i believe And it won't be more expensive than a GF4 TI 4600. |

id have to say go with amd if your trying to save money, u can get the xp2100 for 220 bucks or less, that runs at 1.73 gigs, and out preforms intel's 2.1 gig processor.. intel is a rip if u ask me... also get DDR ram, big difference, id say go with a msi kt3 ultra/aru mobo, that has onboard 5.1 sound, so u will save some money on a soundcard.. as far as video cards go, get a gamewerks g4ti4400, the g4ti4600 is not worth the extra 100$ unless your gonna do video editing and hook it up 2 dual monitors.. i jst built my own system, my specs are below, i get umm 150-200 fps on outside maps, like rmg's and indoor maps i get from 200-350.. i payed a total of 750 and that includes s&h
for that i got xp2100 msi kt3 ultra/aru mobo 512 mb ddr pc 2700 ram dvd player case 400 watt power supply some great fans, my chip temp stays under 104 degrees after playing sof2 for 3 or 4 hours.. and i live in AZ were its 120 out side..lol
i can set ya up with who i went through, jst send me a pm, and i'll give ya the site/email.. they can get anything u want, amd, intell, all the parts u want at wholesale, retail or oem, they can get both, they assembled my comp for 50 bucks. they did a GREAT job, really its unreal.. if u go through a big company like alienware, your gonna pay for the name... i'd suggest going through the little guy, u get the same equipment and save money.. |
