Far Cry from UBI Soft is now allowing registration for beta testing. This game promises to bring you to "Experience a new style of FPS gameplay featuring massive outdoors environments and unprecedented long range gameplay. " You can check out their site for screenshots and information.

From the screenshots it looks really interesting. I sure would like to know what editor they will be using.

I saw the movie of the editors capabilities with the landscape also the movie of the AI in action. Really impressive.

Have a read of there game info technology page as they talk about there CryEDIT: A real-time game editor offering instantaneous "What you see is what you PLAY" feedback. Sounds good

Kind of reminds of all the modding you could do with the serious sam editor. Like I said this looks awesome. Might take and engineering degree to figure it out though. What ticks me off is the technology is out there and Raven won't use it.

I'm thinking that it might have to do with the actual cost of the engine itself which is why Raven hasn't gone that way and stuck with the Q3 game engine. But hey you never know they could really like it's limitations lol

It's my guess that Raven has a deal with the following limitations:

- must work exclusively for Activision
- Activision hired them for Quake Engine work and they are not going to go any further
- All quake work goes through Activision and to Raven

and I think idSoftware has a deal with Activision which is why all these great future games with the Quake IV and DOOM III engine will pass by Raven's desk.

Ah now that makes better sence
