Ok i done the same as before but i noticed you put a "caulk" texture under your map, so i tried that and my player didn't fall though the ground.

All i need now is a tutorial on sunlight..anyone? [biggrin]

After considerable playing around with this I finally got something to work. I followed the directions. hehe
Anyway is it necessary to paint the alpha texture off to the side of the solid texture? It would help if you could see the effect of the two blended textures in the editor. I did see some change in the editor after moving the alpha texture back in place and selecting the solid texture then painting the height in. At least I am getting some results. Yesterday there were no results.

Actually, I don't think it is necessary to move the texture. I do that to avoid any mistakes.

Just make sure that you have only the one terrain selected and that you have "Allow soft selection..." unchecked.

Something I did see yesterday is that after blending some terrain the alpha blend was showing one terrain mesh and not on the other. It seems that it depends on which mesh is selected when you unhighlight them. If the solid texture mesh is highlighted when you deselect the alpha won't show up in the editor. If the alpha mesh is highlighted when you deselect it should show up in the editor. Try it and see what happens.

any idea how to reselect my alpha blended texture for more editing? I always seem to pick up both at the same time -is there some sort of key combo?

just figured it out = phew!

if you shift + ctrl + clcik you select both textures. If you then shift click it deselects one. You can tell 'cos the red hilite colour goes paler. theat saved me hours

- bet everyone else knew that already!
