Hi, once again I am here to talk about yet more tactics. This one is about being nearly overrun but managing to stay on top of a hectic battle in which the enemy knows he will win. What to do in this situation? The best suggestion I could give is to continue running bacwards, throw a nade, and hope for the best. Altho some of our newer viewers so nicely wasted all their nades in the choke points, hoping for a kill... Well, I have been hit too many times with too many weapons, but threw this I have learned many things, If they cant see you, they cant hit you. This includes shell markings and dust-imprints on walls, which, if observed by a skilled player, tells him exacly where his foe awaits. To lessen the effect of this, and to conserve ammo, I suggest placing the fire mode to single, because emulating this effect on auto makes the trees unhappy. When you are in an area of limited cover, like in col1's north path, never move in staight lines and always aim for the head and fire one shot at a time. Unless there is more than 2-4 people running at you and not stitting down bursting at you, you hopefully will be fine. In more complex enviroments, making the enemy think you are camping makes him check everywhere, looking for holes which could hold his demise, can slow him down substantually, allowing you more time to excape. If you have a few nades, holding them down for a short while then letting them off in the general directing makes the enemy hug the coners, whcich you do not want. You want him coming in a predictable path twards you and your bullets. This might not be possible in larger, more complex maps, but it works for few. The object is first getting yourself the #### out of there, keeping yourself alive, THEN killing the enemy. Not any other way. A score of 11/0 is more impressive than 26/11, so keep your ass alive at all times. I have run out of ideas, so, please, add more. Id like to hear melodramatic stories too |

I like to play at the front line (CTF) and like to be where the action is. So, I’m frequently finding myself either at the front in a choke point when the enemy is launching an attack, or part of a vanguard that meets a larger force moving forward. I find myself in situations when the enemy is attacking in force and I need to retreat (either singly because everyone I’m with is dead, or as a group, because we’re outgunned) pretty frequently.
What I do in the situations when you have to go back is back peddle furiously. I’d be zigzagging though, not going straight back, trying to change the angle that the enemy is firing on me from. Zigzagging backwards also let’s me try and put obstacles between the enemy and myself. If there’s a rock or something in the way, reload. Also, try to mix up which side you emerge from the obstacle (or keep it between you as long as possible if the angle is good and you can keep going towards safety). Don’t sit there, keep moving, but try to put something between you.
When moving backwards, it helps if you can lead the enemy (if they see you going backwards, many times they forget their temporary objective and start to follow hoping for a kill) in to other people on your team. Sometimes the tables can quickly be turned, other times; you might lead them in to an easier target. The new target occupies them for a second or two, while you get away. The other person dies, but you save a death, because you’re long gone by the time they start to look for you again, or dead themselves if they suddenly got outgunned.
The fire rate I use depends on the enemy. If they’re bunching up, I’d use long bursts, especially when I can get them on an angle where there are 2 or more very close. When they spread out, or I couldn’t hit a couple of them because of the firing angle, I use single or short bursts.
Always aiming for head or upper shots in this situation because it’s an easier, faster take down if you hit, which is crucial in situations when you’re forced to get out of there quickly.
Goes without saying, throw grenades when the moment is right and you’re going backwards.
Tactics threads are some of the more interesting threads. |

Hmmmm, you all did some nice thinking here, but don't you guys think that the best way to get frags (altough its more risky) is to get behind enemy lines. Take an AK and simply try to blast their heads of. 2 shots in the head with an AK will kill a guy so.... You should also try to get some practice on shooting heads, i'll bet half of you guys aim their crosshairs down when they walk. The tactic "getting behind enemy lines" will work the best if you're red, i think if you're blue, you should be calm and carefull. |

Hrmmmm….I see problems with just relying on the shotgun. If (for example) 3 enemies were bearing down on you, and they were any good, 1 would keep you face on, and the others would be trying to flank you on each side. Ideally, in such a situation, they wouldn’t get close enough for the shotgun to be the most effective weapon because I’d be back peddling like crazy to avoid having a 3 on 1 at v.close range. If it was close enough for the shotgun to be my best choice, then presumably I’ve got 1 in front, one on a side maybe and one behind me. Otherwise, one in front and one on each side….in which case I’m probably screwed anyway because the three of them would be using the shotgun too, unless they’re pretty bad or I get a stroke of luck/skill.
So, I’d be back peddling, zigzagging, dropping grenades if I have any left, trying to put some obstacle in my pursuers line of fire and trying to lead them in to some friendlies to divert them or help me out gun them.
If I was outgunned 3 to 1, I wouldn’t be hanging around long enough to use the shotgun, I’d be going for headshots with my AK while they (hopefully) got left behind and dropped one by one. |
