That was from the compiler. I am redoing the surrounding terrain meshes to check it out. Also the player is totally dark when I test the map. So it must have something to do either with the sky shader or sunlight not being there. They don't make it easy to find any of that stuff in the pk3 files. Guess I will have to extract the whole damn shooting match to see what the sky tute is about. Nother subject. lol

Here is another issue that I have encountered with terrain. When I put a wall up vertical I cannot paint height on it. If I place the wall flat then paint the terrain like I want it to be, I then try to rotate it back to vertical. The wall only goes about 45 degrees then stops. It won't let me get it back to true vertical. Am I doing this wrong?

That's a darn good question, Red. I never tried painting the terrain when in any other view then the Z axis. I have only manipulated vertices.

I am going to try that now.

I had no problem blending terrain on another axis. Where did you run into trouble?

What I did was make a trench for a river. Put a patch on the sides. Then when I tried to paint the sides it would only go up and down. The patch vertices would not paint outward just up and down. I must be doing it wrong. I did not do any blending just tried to pull the terrain out.

Also in the vertical I do not see the the round circle inner or outer radius.

you are right. I could not get the height map to work in any other axis then the Z. This means you can only manipulate vertices when working with terrain in those other axis'. [ohwell]

I am glad it's not only me. lol The only other alternative is to just create a patch mesh then manipulate the vertices in the grid window. I did do that but when moving a vertice point there it drags all of them in that row.
Another scenario that I haven't tried yet is this: Place a terrain mesh in the bottom of the river, lake, trench or whatever, then paint the outer edges up to the top of the bank.
Sounds like a plan which I will go try now.

Yep that can be done. You need to be careful though cause sometimes when painting it will grab the whole brush and move it around. This is going to take some time to complete just the riverbed. Maybe I need to make a 2 foot deep creek instead. Just kidding. lol
