I know very little about computers...but I know what I like. I also know(generally) when someone is going out of their way to offer help. Every visit I have made to this forum leaves me quite awed at 2 things: 1) The huge amount of personal time/care ploughed in, way above the call of duty, by people like Keith, Rev Ted, Andrax, Kesh and many others. OK, sometimes they might be human and get a little tetchy, but they go out of their way to offer, free of charge by the looks of it, their time and expertise to ensure other folks' satisfaction. 2) The ease with which many people confuse support with the apportioning of blame. It would surprise me not at all if the heads who got together to make these forums available one day were to say,"Actually, we've had enough of being blamed, flamed, named and shamed...go to Activision instead," or give out a terse,"try this extant thread: the rest is your system's problem". There is often an edgy tone in these forums: hectoring, whining, sarcastic...that I can well do without; no doubt some bright spark will opine that I can go elsewhere. Yet this never quite eclipses the occasional "I'm sorry" or "thank you" or moments of fun(remember that?) and warmth that sometimes occurs also within these threads. Not all of my queries are picked up and answered to my satisfaction...but, such is the stuff of life. This forum isn't a panacea for all ills, nor is it an instant fix pickup point...and, yes, folks have the freedom to let off steam and admit horrendous frustration. But support is, well, support. I for one am grateful that this is the case. Zig(go on troll, flame me) |

Nice post Zig...
Regarding the delting of posts.... Hmm... Well... most of the posts that I have come across that suddenly vanished were removed because of the completely tactless, explicative, rude, insulting, and down right nasty tone taken by the poster.
If you expect to go anywhere and yell, scream, biscuit eater, moan, curse, insult, and belittle and then expect everyone to drop what they are doing and give you undivided attention to help you resolve your issue, then you are quite mistaken. I understand frustration. It comes with the job and its pretty much built into anything to do with computers. But having a temper tantrum about it doesnt inspire anyone to help you.
If you want to get upset about the deleting of posts... get upset at your parents and perhaps your teachers for letting you get this far in life not knowing how to express yourself and your disapointment regarding your problem in a way that doesnt make you look like a flaming ass.
People that come here with problems and are able to express them without insulting everyone that is trying to help them get pretty #### good support in my opinion. Especially since RAVEN isnt saddled with the SUPPORT role. They made the game yes, but they made it for ACTIVISION!!!! Thus, ACTIVISION is the company that is responsible for it.
*looks around* *wonders if he was babbling* *wanders off* |

well I don't know about all the parent, teacher thing, but I-also understand the frustration. I am a Network Engineer and I deal with people with frustrations everyday. Its not the frustration that is disturbing, but the lack of support. The fact that Raven has been sitting on this patch for "X" amount of time now, with all the people with the problems. Its extemely discouraging paying 50 dollars for a game that does not even work. Maybe Raven doesn't care or is not interested in that, but thats what makes or breaks a company in the consumer world. The fact that everyone who saying "be patient, it will come out when it comes out", it seems they are the ones who are not having any problems whatsover.
Now let me make this clear, I am not getting all wriled up over some game, its the principle now that is driving me. And honestly, I am really getting sick of being treated like a 15 year old punk. If there is a post and it is directly aimed at insulting, misuse, or flaming of a specific user, then I can understand deleting. But deleting a post just for someone expressing frustration or saying whats on their mind. That to me is BS. Delete this if you choose too, but know this, it will not be the last I am heard of.
Next step-Contacting Raven Directly
oh yea and by the way, I have been in contact with Activision, and all I got is the runaround. Stuff that I had allready told them that I had done. But I still got instructions to do them. It was like I was talking to an auto-response bot or something. |
