I think there's enough multiplayer games to go around with: my hope is that Unreal Tournament 2003 will keep me playing just as long as Unreal Tournament did (ever since release: that makes 3 years now! and especially considering the upcoming MMOGs like Planetside and Star Wars Galaxies I think the multiplayer scene is crowded as is.

Off course there are plenty of FPS games with single player, like Unreal II: The Awakening and DOOM III itself, but singleplayer games are usually experiences you only go through once, twice and perhaps three times if it's really good (or really short   ). So imo, there just can't be enough of those!  

So my vote goes to Quake4 being sp only.
One thing I didn't mention: in my days of Quake2, I didn't have network or internet. Because of that, I never did anything else than Q2-single player. So for me, Q4 is all about returning to the Strogg universe: I don't give a #### for any mp.  

...me either...recently I played QII...it's not as good as QI but it IS cool, too...
Now I realize that there is no possibility of returning to the Quake I story...so the QII story seems to force a SP game. Well that suits me just fine!  

the game should contain both sp and mp and specifically co-operative single player.
Why games don't have co-op anymore is beyond me, it is the best sort of multiplay to have in a good sp oriented game, especially since deathmatch tends to lack in playability in those sorts of games (except for half life series) plus it isn't exactly the most challenging thing to program into the game, although if id don't include support for it in doom III we probably wont see it in q4 either.

COOP!  

Personally, I wouldn't even buy Q4 if it didn't have MP.

I loved Q3A, but recently stopped playing it to play SoF2.  It's not SP that gives a game that kind of longetivity, it's the challenge of MP.

I'm looking forward to Q4, but if it doesn't have MP, I'm not opening my wallet.  I could care less if it has SP, becasue I'd probably play it for about 10 minutes in total.  That's what happened with Q3A and with SoF2 at least and I don't see why I'd bother to play more SP in Q4.

MP (Co-op, if I understand what it is correctly, included as a varient of MP) is the future of gaming and is (for instance) the only reason I bought SoF2.  It'll be the only reason I do or do not buy Q4 too.
