Updating bios should increase game play performance, although, I'm unsure how to update them. Would someone clue me in, please?

Thanks.

I would suggest you read the readme that usually accompanies the download. Either that or there are instructions on the page you download them from.
It's also usually a good idea to backup the old one first just in case.

If you use windows 2000 you might want to wait til your next format.  I tried to update my bios, and then 2000 wouldn't boot correctly, it would just freeze.  I think it had something to do with ESCD, but after a format, I reupdated the bios and it was fine.

Updating your bios will probably not increase performance, unless there was a problem.  Bios updates usually fix bugs.  I would check the manufacturer’s site to see what changes were made in the bios version you have and the latest bios.

To be perfectly honest, if you have to ask this question, it's probably better if you don't do this yourself.

It's pretty easy to screw up your PC this way.

I would have to agree...

If you have to ask... you could be looking at a big time screw up for your PC if it doesnt go well.

I have flashed many a bios.  And most of the time its no problem.  But every once in a while (even through no fault of your own) the bios will fail... then your FUBARD.

When you flashed the BIOS, it may have changed whether ACPI was enabled or disabled. If that was the case, then 2000 (or XP, for that matter) would most likely not boot.
