Okay,

I've found this "net_port" modification of the Multiplayer shortcut works fine for PCs but I can't get it to work for my Mac.

I've tried "set net_port 2010x" within the console but the command "net_restart" isn't a reconizable command.  That or I'm doing it wrong.

Does anyone have a solution to get two Macs behind one router to join the same game?

I'm sure someone else has come across this problem with Macs too!!!

Please help!

Hi Spike & co,
I hope you can help me. I have just added another PC to my network. I now run 2 PC's & the server thru my router. Before all was fine wih no problems but now when I join the game I lag like mad??? The other machines are just fine, its just seems to be my connection/PC that lags. It even lags on local when I am not connected to DSL? Is this a conflict of some kind? You gotta help me, Ive tried everything, reseting the router etc.. Laterzzzz  :(

I solved it!

With a little help from here and other forums and a short phone conversation with the Mac version manufacturer I've figured out what file to modify and where it was located.

To change the net_port information sent along with the Multiplayer application for Mac OS X go to:  Soldier of Fortune II (folder)/base/mp and duplicate your autoexec.cfg file and move it somewhere safe (in case you ruin it you'll have a copy of the original) open up the autoexec.cfg with TextEdit.  Add the following line to end of the list of commands in the file:

seta net_port 201xx

The "xx" is a number above "01" (which is the default).  Then save the file.  My whole file now looks like this:

seta cg_crosshairGrow "0"
seta cg_bobroll "0.000"
seta cg_bobpitch "0.000"
seta cg_bobup "0.000"
seta cg_runroll "0.000"
seta cg_runpitch "0.000"
seta net_port 20105

The problem occurs when more than one Mac tries to access the same server behind certain routers.  Since they end up using the same IP and then the same default net_port the Mac that tries to join second can't connect.

Altering this to say 20103 or 20105 will give the Macs unique settings and should have no problem accessing the same server.

So, if you are experiencing troubles like we were this may solve your troubles.  We were using a Netgear router while others we know using other routers weren't having and problems.  I believe this is why few people were complaining or seeking a solution.

Good Luck!!!

I know this has been answered......but I have a bit of a bigger problem.  There are 4 of us.  Me, My G/f, her Brother, and her dad that all try to get on our clan server.  3 of us can get in, but the 4th gets the "Awaiting connection"....some times 2 of us will get it..but mostly just the 4th player.....any help is appreciated.

I have 2 computers in my house in LAN. I bought SOF2 GOLD and when my brother went play on our clan server it was OK. I went on the same server from 2nd computer when my brother was playing there. We played 5 minutes, and we were kick out from the server. There was writing: DUPLICATE CD-KEY. So i have question: is it possible to play on one cd-key the same time on the same server from 2 computres? (external IP is the same) or should i buy 2nd game :(

For two computers to play online at the same time, each must have a unique CD-key.
This means, yes, you must purchase a second copy of the game if you wish to have both computers playing online at once.

some servers may have this in their configs;
seta g_duplicatePlayerMax "3"
this setting states the number of connections a server will allow with the same ip, this would be why the 4th person couldnt connect.
